USB conflicts

I have RT-AC5300 running on merlin v 380.68_4 with two usb devices attached. One is hdd that I use for samba and dlna and the other USB drive that I use for entware and reverse proxy.

Whenever I boot the router one of three things happens (randomly):
1. everything works fine
2. one of the usb devices doesn't mount
3. both devices mount but the samba stops (not the dlna)

I tried to disable "Reducing USB 3.0 interference" - no luck.
The same settings worked without any conflicts on older...

RT-AC87U - Lost Internet - kernel: nvram: consolidating space

On 380.69_2 and lost connectivity to the Internet this morning. No DNS resolution or outbound pings were functional to IPs. Looked in the system log and noticed the following which I've never seen before. Hard to do a hard reboot in order for it to function again. Ideas?

Did I format correct for Entware on Asus ac68u router? Ext2 vs Ext3 and Ext4

I have a Asus ac68u ac1900 router and I formatted my usb ext2. I formatted 1 partition for "Entware" and 1 for "Ab solution" and another "data" is this the best option besides formatting it ext2 or ext4? should I reformat it?

Also should I just do 1 partition?

Merlin openvpn client: 1 OK, 4 no internet

Hi gals and guys,
Suddenly only one vpn client of 5 that I have configured, is able to connect to the internet. the other four claim they are "connected" (in service state), but I can't reach the internet. Everything worked fine and for no apparent reason, things went wrong. I've tried everything, but to no avail.
If somebody has a suggestion, I would be very very very much obliged.
Asus 5300, Merlin 380.69.2. router (wan) 192.168.1.25 (router after router set up).

Port Forwarding rule not working

I am trying for a simple port forward of port 80 to a internal Ubuntu Apache server (198.168.2.250, tested http from internal, and fine), but it just does not work from outside of the Asus-Merlin router. I get a "Site Unreachable" message. I know that my external IP is correct that I am testing against (http://external-ip).

HTTP | | 80 | 192.168.2.250 | 80 | Both |

I've updated to the current firmware...

[RT-AC86U] Accelerated crypto with /dev/crypto

I've been trying to test openssl to use /dev/crypto, to access the accelerated ciphers of the RT-AC86U. These are kernel modules in the Linux mainline kernel, written in 64-bit assembler, intended for the ARMv8 cpu. However, it's kernelspace and I need a userspace interface such as /dev/crypto or AF_ALG to access the ciphers....

Hi Merlin,

I have to control the time my teenage kid spends on the Internet otherwise he busts my quota limit every month (I don't have unlimited nor wish to have it). At first the Parental Controls worked fine but now he uses some sort of MAC Address spoofing software or plug-in with Chrome that tricks the router into thinking it’s a different computer. So my kid enjoyed 24/7 access to Internet for a while... until I found out. I just can’t keep up adding new MAC addresses every time to...

AC68P WAN speeds about 10% of what they should be - since moving away from John's 374

Ive recently moved my AC68P from John's build to Merlin v382 then 384... in both cases my WAN speeds have been anywhere from 4Mbit to 9.5Mbit... usually round 7 or 8. Sometimes I can reboot the ASUS 4 or 5 times nd speed will be 55-60 for about half a day. Sometimes. Today, I cant get anything above 9Mbit after 4 reboots.

connecting directly to the cable modem I get 40-60Mbit today.

I dont run ANY 3rd part apps, vpns, AV, scripts, nada...

Any help is appreciated!

ASUS RT-AC86U with Asuswrt-Merlin - Current 382.1_2

But have tested this with (382.1_2) & (382.2_beta3) & (384.3_beta3)
The results are the same for all of them

Bug or Feature ??
(it depends on how high the fence is and on what side your standing on)

Open box, install, upgrade Asus firmware, factory reset
Install firmware Merlin, factory reset
Configure WAN then LAN DHCP followed by VPN Clients and External Storage - now at this point - testing

Hello,

This is my first post in this forum. It is now three weeks that I am reading many posts here on how to better tailor my RT-AC66U_B1 router (running Asuswrt-Merlin 380.69_2) to my needs. So, piece by piece, I've assembled a quite lenghty firewall-start script and a much smaller nat-script where I do all my business. I would like to thank the many contributors of this forums for the hints I've learnt during this time.

Asuswrt-Merlin 384.3 is now available. While this release isn't perfect, it reached a stability point where the remaining issues have been consuming too many hours of my time and I'm still unable to reproduce them. Since it's working fine for the vast majority, I decided it was high time to have this wrapped up, so I could move on to working with newer code base, with hopefully the remaining fixes in there.

The highlights:
  • Merged with GPL 384_10007. Note that AiMesh...

As usual,, I will occasionally upload pre-beta test builds to the https://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca/test-builds folder.

These are early test builds, which have received very limited testing. They are still work-in-progress, so things can be broken, and things will change before reaching the beta stage.

No support is provided for these test builds, and no ETA either.

Last two firmware updates don't work with Comcast

I have the Asus AC68U router and Merlin has always worked fine. I get good results with 380.69.0, but when I tried to upgrade to 380.69.2 and 384.3.0, I can not get connected to the internet. My ISP is Comcast, and whenever I try to establish the connection inside the router interface, I keep getting the message "Your ISP's DHCP does not function properly."

I rolled back to 380.69.0 and it works again. What am I missing? I power cycled the modem and router each time, but did not do a memory...

Last two firmware updates don't work with Comcast

PPTP VPN server question

This could be a more general PPTP question but as I'm trying to do everything from the router's web config with Merlin I post it here.

I noticed that when I use a PPTP server all internet traffic is routed trough VPN ("tracert google.com" gives the router address on the first line). How can I route only 192.168... traffic via VPN (similar with Open VPN when "Direct clients to redirect Internet traffic" is unchecked) as I don't see such option in the web gui?

Asus RT-N66U Wifi Issues-WIFI is Dead

All of sudden my Asus router both wifi stopped working. On router I am not able to see any lights for both wifi. Even these lights are not coming up after doing Reset couple of times using different method recommended.
Router is having latest Merlin firmware.
Can someone guide how to resolve this issue?

RT-AC68U - 380.69_2 - 5Ghz Range Issue

First of all, i would like to thanks for this wonderful project. I don't know if this was reported already (searched but couldn't find anything) but since the .69_2 flashing i've lost some range on my 5Ghz. After i've reverted to 380.69, everything went back to normal again.

Edit: Started to have troubles again on 380.69. Went to .68 and everything looks fine again.

Hello,

I see that recently AC5300 has been officially migrated to 384. I haven't seen an alpha pre-release build version for it on that thread. I tried to search the forum but found nothing (probably due to incompetence rather than absence of information). Do we know if there are plans for a new version of Merlin for that model?
