Hi everyone first post here hoping someone can help me out with what I think might be a samba (smb) issue between my WD My Cloud and my Merlin Asus RT-AC87R.

I have tried to play around with the with the smb.conf file on the Asus and the smb-global.conf on the My Cloud but can never get it to take the user credentials. I have turned the log level on the Asus to 10 and I can see errors which I have included in the text files. I am not sure if it is just because of the version of smbd, I am...

RT-AC86U power down after reboot

I have an RT-AC86U flashed with Merlin 382.1_2 firmware. The last couple times I rebooted from the web UI the router powered itself down - No LED activity or otherwise. I had to toggle the power button to restore. This would be pretty inconvenient if I had the auto boot feature enabled or had to reboot remotely...

Anyone else experience this?

Signature update failed AC68U

Trying to get the Trend Micro signature file to update on this router and having no luck. I suspect the Asus hosted update files are missing but would love some independent confirmation. I wasn't sure whether to post here or in the AC router section but I'm running Merlin 380.69_2 so I guess I'll start here.

When I go to Administration -> Firmware Update and hit the Check button next to the Signature Version (I'm currently on 1.110) it shows Signature Checking... and a spinning circle for...

Entware-3x is new version of Entware optimized for 3.x and 4.x linux kernels. It is based on Entware-ng but can be used only on firmwares with 3.x and 4.x linux kernels. Entware-3x has more packages compared to Entware-ng because some packages cannot be compiled for old kernels, some Entware-3x packages have higher versions for the same reason. VPN Client no longer shows service state / can't update

Hardware: ASUS RT-AC68U running 380.69_2

Problem: Running VPN on router, but 1) no longer indicating service state, 2) no longer able to update Ovpn files, and 3) sidebar is missing as shown below. The client appears to still be running as the VPN provider is still indicating that I'm protected. Not exactly sure when the problem started, but I tried to disable all my Chrome extensions, rebooted, and tried again with no luck. At some point this changed, so I recently reflashed to...

So to solve all the problems with installing dnscrypt with entware (or similar) then setting up various scripts to handle dnscrypt-proxy starting up including the ntp issue, I made my own installer for dnscrypt-proxy.

Requirements:
- ARM or MIPSEL based ASUS routers
- asuswrt-merlin firmwares or compatible
- jffs support and script enabled

Incompatibilities:
- No known issue

Ok, just to start off I want to mention I mostly know what I am doing with networking equipment (I actually have a degree). Not going to claim I know everything there is to know though.

This also happened with the 382.2_Beta2 FYI.
Kids frequently watch YouTube videos on our first gen FireStick (via a browser since YouTube disable the app...) After I upgraded to the previous beta I noticed it kept hanging in the middle of the video, and there was no way to get it to keep going. Going back to...

[List] Territorial differences in ASUS Routers

Hi, I though it could be a fun little project and a learning experience to collect info on differences in ASUS routers SKUs and their territorial differences. This list could be expanded to wireless channels, wireless transmit power and many other things. The reason I post this in the Merlin forum is that I want to limit the list to current and past routers supported by Merlin, else it could go on forever and be hard to maintain.

"Model" is self-explanatory.

USB invalid partiton

I'm trying to install ENT-WARE on my router. It's an AC2900 running Merlin 382.1_2.
I'm following the instructions on the wiki https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Entware

The problem is, when I insert the USB drive the Asus says "Partition 1 has different physical/logical beginnings (non-Linux?):"
In fact, it says that for all partitions. I tried to format the USB drive with the disk manager in the...

380.69_2 on AC5300 locked up

I installed this newest firmware less than a week ago and last night my internet stopped on all devices, and I also could not log into the router itself. Had to power it off and on. Its all working now, but I had to reset all of my logging which was being saved to an external drive. I guess it got corrupted and it would not connect to it.

I had been previously running the second latest firmware for weeks, if not months, with no issues.

Recently purchased a new AC87U (use to have AC66U) immediately upgrade to 380.68_4 and get everything reconfigured. last week, for the first time installed AB-Solution (v3.9.2), which so far appears to be working great. Reviewing the system messages last night, I noticed the router rebooted itself apparently from a Kernel panic. Searched and saw some recent threads about possibly a corrupt usb drive could cause this... which would coincide with the recently installed AB.

Parental Controls - allow only xx internet hours per day for a device

Hi There Mr Merlin,

Would it be possible in some future release to have an option to select a device and specify that it can only access the internet for xx amount of hours per day.

I have kids with ipads, and i only want to allow them 2 hour per day,to be used anytime.

Is this possible?

Hi,
Im using AC68U with 380.69_2 and all was excellent until yesterday.... with too many "error connecting to nwsrv-ns1.asus.com:80" in log.

Anyone with same problem?

Edit: Sorry, I've solved the problem whitelisting domain in skynet.. I do not know why this was not necessary until now..

FTP problem new update RT-AC88U: 382.1_2 firmware

Hi,

After receiving a notification on my RT-AC88U, for a new ASUSwrt-Merlin firmware.
I went too get the new firmware 382.1_2 on Sourceforge.

After installing it i got trouble using FTP with my NAS. Normally my speed was around 500mb/s, now the speed dropped to 95mb/s and its killing the whole internet connecting on my home network. None of my device wi-fi or wired can access the internet when i'm using FTP.
It's like the router is blocking all connection.
I switched back to the 380.69_2...

Asuswrt Merlin on Tenda AC18

Hi all,

I successfully installed the Asuswrt Merlin on a friend's Tenda AC18.
I need to change some NVRAM values to finish the configuration but I don't find the WebShell menu (attached is a photo of the screen), also I can't find the wifi "AllArea"setting to open all the 5G bands.

Can someone please help me to get it working, and if someone already made this please advise if there are any other settings needed after the Asuswrt Merlin installation (except the USB and 5G corrections).
