VPN Client no longer shows service state / can't update

Hardware: ASUS RT-AC68U running 380.69_2
Problem:

Running VPN on router, but 1) no longer indicating service state, 2) no longer able to update Ovpn files, and 3) sidebar is missing as shown below. The client appears to still be running as the VPN provider is still indicating that I'm protected. Not exactly sure when the problem started, but I tried to disable all my Chrome extensions, rebooted, and tried again with no luck. At some point this changed, so I recently reflashed to...

Wireless log view and Guest SSID

With router ASUS RT-AC56U and merlin OS version 3.80.69.2 . Is it normal that I do not see guest WIFI from wireless log panel? I have 2 Guests wireless SSID for both 2.4 and 5.0Gz antenna.

I see that we gather all the WIFI client connections under the main SSID names of each of the antennas (2.4 and 5.0). no matter if it's from a SSID guest or not. (See images in attachements)

384.3 Beta 2 QOS error on start RT-AC68u

Any idea what is causing QOS error?

This was a fresh install of the beta f/w followed by manual reboot, a factory initialize and then hand entry of all the desired settings except QOS. (turned on app analyses on bandwidth monitor and did give High priority to one device though) Worked OK no errors.

Next step turned on QOS -adaptive qos and set fq_codel and left preset at 0. Selected Custom and moved VOIP to the highest priority. Hit apply. Then these errors:

Lost sh and http

I had a curious failure of sh and http on Firmware Version:382.1_2. This is an RT-AC88U, and it has been a constant problem.

Attempts to hit the web GUI on the internal IP address would hang with no response, so I tried to ssh into the router. ssh would hang after showing the banner, but before showing a shell prompt. Curiously, I could still execute remote commands via ssh, such as: ssh -l root 192.168.1.1 tail -f...

Openvpn Server very slow speed

I've a RT-AC87U with 380.69 Asuswrt-Merlin.
I've Openvpn running as a Server, but the speeds are terrible when I connect to it.
I've tried it with several OS (Linux/Raspi, MacOS) and Broadband connections (University, Downstream 50-100Mbit and my upstream is 30MBit) and the result is always the same - the client can get only a few kb/s transfer speed. Any ideas?! Can someone confirm working for it with decent speeds?

Hi, just wanted to let you know that manual assignment in DHCP doesn't work and the "enable manual assignment" button has no effect. Turning it to no does not stop manual assignment. Also, I constantly get disconnected from my DLNA media server with this router for some reason :(. The last issue I noticed is the "Redirect webui access to router.asus.com" radial button does not redirect to router.asus.com when enabled.

P.S. Thank you for fixing the crashing issue in this latest update. MUCH...

Hi, all,

I've had serious issues getting my Samsung Galaxy S7 to work via the WAN Android phone tethering option. The only place where I've seen it work out of the box is on the Asus RT-N16 with stock firmware, but I couldn't log into linux and see what it did differently. Today I purchased a RT-AC3100 to try it in the merlin firmware, and it is not working out of the box.

I finally found a path that gets it to work.

This will be a little package that provides a real Network Time Protocol daemon for your Merlin router and perhaps ASUSWRT too. It will keep your router's clock more accurate than you possibly ever want.

Why bother using it over the stock? Because it uses much less RAM than the NTP shipped in current ASUSWRT or Merlin and yet does much more and doing in a proper way.

[Solved] Bouncing radios

RT-AC88U with firmware 382.1.2.

The radios are constantly bouncing, CPU on core 1 and core 2 alternately go to 100%. I do not see the SSID on my iPhone, iPad, etc.

It was working fine, but I decided to try Enable Smart Connect. It was a mistake to mess with it...

After that, no wireless connectivity.

I noticed then when you enable smart connect, it sets both radios to the same network name. It choose the network name I was using for 5gHz... I decided to set things back the way they were...

Recently purchased a new AC87U (use to have AC66U) immediately upgrade to 380.68_4 and get everything reconfigured. last week, for the first time installed AB-Solution (v3.9.2), which so far appears to be working great. Reviewing the system messages last night, I noticed the router rebooted itself apparently from a Kernel panic. Searched and saw some recent threads about possibly a corrupt usb drive could cause this... which would coincide with the recently installed AB.

OpenVPN Client / Notification when loosing public IP

Hello

I have the problem, that a OpenVPN client on my RT-AC86U (Merlin 382.1_2) looses the public IP from time to time.

It would be a very good feature, to receive an email if this happens. Is there a possibility to set this up? Script?

Hi all, I recently moved from a Netgear R7000 with XWRT (so in essence, the great Asuswrt-Merlin!) with various older routers as APs to an Asus RT-AC68 as main router, with two more of the same as APs.

I am running the laters beta of Asuswrt-Merlin on all three. Before continuing, I have to praise Merlin - both with the XWRT fork/port and this, I love your work and it is awesome the time and effort you put in. Thanks.

My problem: my iPhone 7 does not stay connected to the router or the...

Since 380.69.2 things like wired roku and wireless amazon firestick are being dropped from the network and after being dropped can not find the network except by a hard reset.
Today on 384.3 beta 1...yes I have not upgraded yet, my windows media center was dropped and when disconnecting the network adapter and enabling it did find the network and reconnect.
What is causing all this disconnecting? The lease time is default.
I have tried assigning ip around dhcp and assigning static ip but it...

I'm looking for ASUS router recommendations for a rural business that is installing a Ring doorbell and cameras which all run on 2.4G. The outdoor cameras will go through brick and the doorbell currently is at -70 RSSI with a router barely bigger than a slice of Texas toast! Other than the cameras there will be a few wireless devices and not a lot of internet traffic.

I'm looking for a router that will give them great 2.4G coverage but won't have a lot of devices on it or require a lot of...

I started playing around with Suricata today, but I'm running into some issues. There's only very little info on the forum and loads of info on the web, which mostly seem too complicated to get started. Hopefully there are more experienced users around to get me started. I'm currently running Asuswrt-Merlin 380.69_2 on a RT-AC68U.

For starters, when installing through opkg I noticed the last two lines say
