Help Please..Need assistance stopping outbound connections!

As the title of the thread states I need assistance with adding FW rules to my N66U to try and alleviate outbound connections from my IP cams. I logged onto my router web interface today and went to the WAN tab and looked up "Active Connections" and notice two of my ip cams are connecting to a China ip.

My firmware is Merlin 380.64_2. I do not have any open ports and have turned off all connections on both router (UPnP) and the individual cams (UPnP, P2P, Bonjour, etc) and even use...

Signature update failed AC68U

Trying to get the Trend Micro signature file to update on this router and having no luck. I suspect the Asus hosted update files are missing but would love some independent confirmation. I wasn't sure whether to post here or in the AC router section but I'm running Merlin 380.69_2 so I guess I'll start here.

When I go to Administration -> Firmware Update and hit the Check button next to the Signature Version (I'm currently on 1.110) it shows Signature Checking... and a spinning circle for...

AC88U - just 4 rj45 ports working

Hi,

I have just installed the Asuswrt-merlin firmware version 380.69_2 but just works 4 lan ports (Lan1 to Lan4).
Any chance to fix this, 8 ports to work, or to work i have to install official firmware?

Suricata 4.0.3 - request for assistance

I started playing around with Suricata today, but I'm running into some issues. There's only very little info on the forum and loads of info on the web, which mostly seem to complicated to get started. Hopefully there are more experienced users around to get me started. I'm currently running Asuswrt-Merlin 380.69_2 on a RT-AC68U.

For starters, when installing through opkg I noticed the last two lines say

Asus RT-N66U Merlin will not flash

As per instructions, I am using RT-AC68U firmware. I browse to the file, select it, click upload and the process starts then has an error 'invalid firmware upload....incorrect image or error transmission'. I d/led the firmware again, checked the integrity with the same result.

With that error, I'm hesitant to use the firmware restore application.

any ideas guys?

please help with putty to asus merlin ssh

I´ve successfully ssh´d from putty to both my asus merlin router with SSH enabled and also a win10 PC running freessh but i can´t get a tunnel working using my browser (FF) and putty. I have putty tunnel and FF socks 5 setup per all the guides out there. I have the ports the same and dynamic, auto under putty tunnel. No matter what I do, my browser always says connection reset when I try to browse using the tunnel to the router or freessh. What in the world can I be doing wrong? Any...

Which versions have KRACK patched for the RT-AC68?

My understanding for the RT-AC68 is that release 382 and beyond all address the KRACK vulnerability. Is this true?

Likewise my understanding for the 380 release stream (for the RT-AC68 again) is that it does not and will never fix the KRACK vulnerability. Is this true?

USB3 hdd on ac86u with Merlin FW

I have an ac86u and I have a usb3 dock hard disk connected (disabled the interference option).
It works correctly on Asus official firmware and I can indeed see speeds up to around 90 MB/s.

I am accessing the shared hdd from Windows 10 x64 Pro machines either wired or wireless.

I have updated the router with Merlin's firmware 382.1.2 stable (as well as the latest alpha 384).
With Merlins FW when I access the shared folders and try to copy or just create I receive the following error:...

So to solve all the problems with installing dnscrypt with entware (or similar) then setting up various scripts to handle dnscrypt-proxy starting up including the ntp issue, I made my own installer for dnscrypt-proxy.

Requirements:
- ARM or MIPSEL based ASUS routers
- asuswrt-merlin firmwares or compatible
- jffs support and script enabled

Incompatibilities:
- No known issue

Please assume I know nothing, you won't go far wrong. I use my Asus RT-AC87U router out of the box & I try not to mess with it.
However, it keeps doing this mad thing at random intervals & I need to stop it. What happens is that everything is going along fine with Internet access behaving normally then suddenly a user on any one of our home devices will report there's no Internet access. RT-AC66U_B1 wps button wifi toggle - missing setting

Hello,

I would like to use WPS button for WiFi toggle as I use WiFi scheduler to turn off WiFi during the night hours -for case when I go sleep later as usual.

If I know well, normally Merlin FW has setting in the Administration/System for it. But as for RT-AC66U_B1 is used same FW as for the RT-AC68U, which has separate HW button for wifi toggle, there is no such setting, unfortunatelly.

Can somebody help me to have this wifi toggle on WPS button on RT-AC66U_B1 router please?

System log question

What is this home RT-AC68u router trying to tell me? System log file seems to have maybe thousands of these lines at times the last few days 380.69_2 . The time stamp for what it is worth seems to coincide with the owners son getting home from school and firing up his tower of power loaded with Steam games and other stuff. (but not always). Thank you for any advice anyone can offer.

I needed to restrict LAN port#4 for Internet only use, just like the Wireless Guest Network access. Then I plug an 8-port Ethernet switch into LAN port 4 of the RT-AC68U router, to expand the number of Internet-only wired connections. It is for attaching wired network devices that have no business on my local area network, but need to access the Internet.

100% cpu usage on core 1 of AC88U

Hello,

I've been using the Merlin firmware for my router for quite a while now, and just today I noticed that core 1 on my Asus AC88U is pegged at 100% all of the time, and restarting the router does not solve the issue. This must have started in the last week, because I updated to the newest firmware about a week ago, and the router was not having this issue.

Is there a way to see what is using the processor in the router (similar to task manager)? The only thing I've done recently was...

I'm UK based and have my Internet and TV service from BT. The TV service offers a number of channels broadcast over the internet as (so I believe) multicast streams.

I've noticed for a long time that when I have Adaptive QoS enabled, the IPTV stream is registered by the Upload Bandwidth Monitor and this causes issues that QoS throttles this stream when I quickly run out of upstream bandwidth (I have around 13mbps and an HD stream is around 8mbps). firewall-start question for rt-ac1900p/ac-68u

I just switched from Cable to Fiber and the below firewall rule stopped working:
iptables -I FORWARD -p ALL -i br0 -o eth0 -m iprange --src-range 192.168.2.5-192.168.2.109 -j DROP

I am in 380.68_4.....I am guessing interface is wrong now.....but I have tried ppp0 and that did not work either....So I am confused. Thank you in advanced....
