Enabling MDNS/Multicast/Cast Discovery ??

Phlex (flex) allows one to control plex/chromecast with google home.

I got it up and running, but am having some problems. I can't get it to detect my chromecast.

They say to make sure "multicast filtering", "bonjour","or MDNS discovery is enabled in your router.

Can anyone point me in the direction on how to enable this in merlin (asus rt n66u)?

Samba net rpc calls?

Hi!

I recently switched from the AdvancedTomato firmware to Asuswrt-Merlin. When I used AdvancedTomato I used the Samba net rpc commands to power off/reboot my Windows machine, i.e. I believe I downloaded Samba through opkg or ipkg.

net rpc -shutdown -r -I <ip> -U <user>

Is this possible to do the same on Asuswrt-Merlin? It seems the net rpc command isn't recognized (even after trying to download Samba 3.6 through opkg, tried both the client and the server).

Any help is appreciated!

Double NAT custom DDNS script

I have made a double NAT custom DDNS script for asus router (and possibly others as well) working for DDNS provider NOIP. The issues with double NAT is that our asus router does not report the external IP, only the ip reported for the WAN interface. For that reason it is necessary to perform a lookup on an external site (http://icanhazip.com/ and http://ipv4.myip.dk for backup).

Wifi problems with iPhone X when connected to 5 Ghz band

I’m having issues with my iPhone X when connected to the 5 Ghz band on a ASUS RT-AC3200 (latest RMerlin FW). The wifi disconnects or dropping and this only happens to my iPhone X. I have 5 other iDevices at home without any problems.

I’ve reported this to Apple but just thought if anyone had some tricks to solve it. I have done all troubleshooting on the iPhone but no better results.

RT-N66U micro sd card slot.

Ok.

Got it working somehow.

The card was labeled as microSDHC UHS-I 32GB.

My old cardreader did not accept it,
so I had to ssh into the RT-N66U and fdisk and format it as ext2.

At least I can now ftp to it and see some folders I created.

How can this be put to further use?

I can not get Download Manager to install.

Hello,
im using Merlin 380.68_4 on RT-N66U and I noticed two problems with VPN. Need some advice or help. Im using OpenVPN client with "Redirect Internet traffic Policy Rules (strict)" and "Block routed clients if tunnel goes down" in rules I have clients added with Iface VPN, and it works fine clients connect with VPN... but when I restart router:
1. OpenVPN don't reconnect auto (is there any way to make him do it auto?) there is set connection retry to 5 seconds, but it look like it apply...

I'm running Asuswrt-merlin 382.1_2 (though I've noticed the issue over pretty much all versions I've run). Even with Set AP Isolated disabled, I'm having issues with communications between wireless clients. I've even enabled and disabled Set AP Isolated in case there was some stale configuration stuck. From a wired client, I can always reliably ping all wireless clients, and vice versa. From 5GHz client to 5GHz client, it seems to reliably work. A 2.4GHz client to a 2.4GHz client almost...

Found a nice Black Friday deal on the RT-AC86U, so I decided to buy one to upgrade my RT-AC66U.

What is the best way to migrate from my old (MIPS) router to the new (ARM) router?

I might post more questions here in the future (when I have received the new router), but my main concern right now is: how can I make sure I can reuse the DDNS (*.asuscomm.com) entry from the old router on the new router? (then I don't have to reconfigure my iOS devices)

Since I'm migrating from RMerlin 380.69...

Deauth other AP's on same channel

Is it possible to somehow set up our routers to run a script which will send deauth packets to other AP's which hop on the same channel? I have 2 neighbors who's routers are most likely on auto channel, and every so often they hop to my routers channel. I normally just use my laptop and deauth it for 30 minutes and it will hop back to an unused channel. Would be nice to just automate this.

Hello, I have had this idea in my head for a long while now and wanted to share it with a more competent group who could tell me if this idea is feasible or not.

The problem I have currently, which is more of a convenience problem, is that for obvious reasons I do not leave my OpenVPN running 24/7 on my router. This mean every time I do want to switch the VPN on, I have to log into the Router UI, enter credentials, navigate to VPN and so on... hopefully you get where I am going with this...
