After trying Tomato on my RT-AC86U so I could try out the native VyperVPN client which seemed like it would be both powerful and fast, being that I could use Chameleon natively, I was soundly disappointed at how miserably that VPN client performed. It was so excruciatingly awful at how hideously slow it crept, that after all of the trial and error and getting just the right hardware with just the right hardware version and then getting just the right tomato build, to find the app is pure...

Sorry new to the forum, I did a search for my device and found nothing. Was wondering if we are able to request support for a specific model router ? I have looked around and my router is not supposrted currently on tomato , ddwrt or openwrt unfortunately. I have a asus RT-N12E is it possible to compile merlin for this model ?

Asus AC56U - ftdi_sio.ko module doesn't exist

Hi all,

I have a problem with my Phoenix USB card reader (FTDI FT232R USB UART ). It's not properly detected as GSM modem instead FTDI reader. I dig into google and I found that problem is in ftdi_sio kernel module. I tried to load this module with this command "insmod ftdi_sio" but without any results. My firmware (Asuswrt-Merlin 380.68 haven't ftdi_sio.ko module in kernel). My question is - there is any chance to add this module (driver)? Or maybe someone have already compiled ftdi_sio.ko...

Fixed an inconsistency in update-hosts.add where the blocking file update would add comments from the whitelist to the shared-AB-whitelist.

Hello Everyone,
i'm Carlo from Italy: this is my first post on this forum :) (well it's the second :D )
I did search and i did try to find the answer to my need but i didnt find, so i'm very sorry if there is a post that answer me.

I was using an RT-AC66U for years when it died a quiet and peaceful death. I was able to access the GUI from the internet both on my phone and my work computer using the latest Merlin firmware. I replaced my deceased friend with an RT-AC68U and updated to the most recent Merlin 380.68_4. My enable web access from WAN is on and I am using the same DDNS host name. When using the iplookup.asus.com service, it identifies my user name and the IP address of my system.

Asuswrt-Merlin 380.69 Beta is now available for all supported models.

This is a maintenance release for the legacy 380 branch. This branch will only provide minimal bugfixes from now on, as active development has been moved to the 382 branch. Development of the 380 branch will gradually get reduced, until all the actively supported models are migrated to the 382 codebase.

Highlight of changes since 380.68_4:

  • KRACK security fix for the RT-N66U and RT-AC66U. No other models in...

I want a router that will link aggregate two USB connected smartphones acting as WAN/modems. Devices, firmware, ISP are identical. Not just load balancing. Must be IPV4 capable as tethered connections don't support IPV6, to my knowledge.

Very few commercial grade routers support USB tether, most don't have a single USB port even if they support link aggregation and/or load balancing.

I have an ASUS AC-1900/RT-AC68U and it has two USB ports. The stock firmware allows for USB tether of a...

Wifi problems with iPhone X when connected to 5 Ghz band

I’m having issues with my iPhone X when connected to the 5 Ghz band on a ASUS RT-AC3200 (latest RMerlin FW). The wifi disconnects or dropping and this only happens to my iPhone X. I have 5 other iDevices at home without any problems.

I’ve reported this to Apple but just thought if anyone had some tricks to solve it. I have done all troubleshooting on the iPhone but no better results.

Migrating from MIPS (AC66U) to ARM (AC86U) router: how to? (DDNS etc.)

Found a nice Black Friday deal on the RT-AC86U, so I decided to buy one to upgrade my RT-AC66U.

What is the best way to migrate from my old (MIPS) router to the new (ARM) router?

I might post more questions here in the future (when I have received the new router), but my main concern right now is: how can I make sure I can reuse the DDNS (*.asuscomm.com) entry from the old router on the new router? (then I don't have to reconfigure my iOS devices)

Since I'm migrating from RMerlin 380.69...

Hello,
im using Merlin 380.68_4 on RT-N66U and I noticed two problems with VPN. Need some advice or help. Im using OpenVPN client with "Redirect Internet traffic Policy Rules (strict)" and "Block routed clients if tunnel goes down" in rules I have clients added with Iface VPN, and it works fine clients connect with VPN... but when I restart router:
1. OpenVPN don't reconnect auto (is there any way to make him do it auto?) there is set connection retry to 5 seconds, but it look like it apply...

Greetings,

I have problems setting on media bridge on my (converted Asus router) merlin routers. I have set up wireless bridge on tomato routers and they work great. However, as merlin interface is somewhat limited, I have no idea how to navigate to resolve this problem. I seek your help.

First of, I have 2 routers running on merlin firmware:

t-mobile AC1900 converted to Asus AC68U, running on Asuswrt-Merlin RT-AC68U_380.68_4.trx
Linksys EA6900, running xvortex/merlin EA6900_380.68_4.trx...

Routing table is too small in 382.x

Hi,

I have dual wan configuration with load balancing. It screws the internet connection normally, but I use it with routing table. My home setup was
x.x.x.2 - x.x.x.63 addresses were reserved to fixed IP devices
x.x.x.64 - x.x.x.127 to dhcp
Even addresses are routed to wan1 and odd to wan2. I had exactly 128 entries in routing table.
This has been working at least in 380.x, but I noticed today (382.x) that all addresses were routed to wan1. I tried to fix it without success. Dropped...

Routing table is too small in 382.x
