rt-ac66u 380.61 smart tv issues

I have a client who has a new rt-ac66u configured with the latest 380.61 firmware. The unit connects fine to either band, however when trying to use the smarttv apps all of them say the network is offline. The network builtin tester works fine and indicates there isn't a software update. The unit used to work with an old wireless-g router. Has anyone seen anything like this. It is a Vizio HDTV.

Hi all,

This is my first post and I am really new to this. So please go easy on me.

I know you are all very busy so all I am asking is a nudge in the right direction.
Due to increased GFW activity and VPN interferences I am forced to look into a different solution. With OpenVPN basically shut down I will probably give shadowsocks a try. This means I'll rent a VPS through e.g. digitalocean, install a recent Ubuntu (>14) and run a shadowsocks server there. This doesn't seem difficult...

I've uploaded some preview builds to the Test Builds folder on Mediafire. As usual, I will occasionally push new test builds there over the coming weeks.

No support is provided for these builds, they are only intended for early adopters, and early feedback. At this point not many changes, so there isn't much for people to test specifically.

running process as a service

I have a RT-AC68U running asuswrt-merlin 380.59 on which i've also installed entware-ng.

One of the items I am using is ipcad, but I cannot figure out how to run it as a service or at the least have it start automatically after a reboot. I've tried adding it to the services-start file but after any reboot, i still have to manually start ipcad.

i've looked around and can't really find anything other than 'add it to services-start'

NFS on RT-AC1900P with 380.61

I've attached a USB drive to both the 2.0 and 3.0 port on the AC1900. Merlin shows the drives under Samba and FTP, but when I look at the NFS tab I see: "You need to plug a USB disk to your router to be able to export folders!"

Is there some setting I'm missing to enable NFS exports? I really enjoy the idea of this ASUS router providing NFS mount points.

Merlin has been awesome in every other way, now to get NFS working...

I used the RT-AC68U firmware.

Does Entware survive firmware upgrades?

Hi,

I'm planning to upgrade the firmware on my router and even though I've done this a few times before I had never previously done this with Entware setup and multiple packages installed. I guess my question is following the upgrade will

  1. Entware and installed packages on USB continue to function normally?
  2. Do I have to do a fresh Entware install and reinstall all packages?
  3. Is it possible to backup and then restore Entware?

Merlin 380.61 AC87 slow wired external traffic vs stock Asus FW

So my problem stands with transfer speeds on a gigabit internet connection (att gigapower). On the stock Asus FW I can get ~980 up/down but I am topping out at 297 on the Merlin FW. I have disabled the following in hopes that it would fix it but I cant seem to shake the problem:

  • NAT Loopback
  • adaptive QOS/QOS
  • traffic analyzer
  • Jumbo Frame
  • NAT Accel
  • Spanning Tree Protocol
  • Infected Device Prevention and Blocking

How to Block internet access to precise IP range at night?

Hi,

I have an Asus RT-AC87U with the latest Merlin firmware on it (380.61). I'd like to block internet access to ip range 192.168.4.103-192.168.4.200 during the night.
I've looked at the Firewall - Network Services Filter, but it seems impossible to specify a specific and precise IP range.

Is there a way to do this?

Different DMZ behavior on Guest vs Main Wireless network

Using DMZ, I see different behavior if the DMZ IP device is on the guest wireless network or on the main wireless network, is this expected? I’m trying to give someone access to the BMC remote console on a server without giving them access to the other IP address on my home network. I thought I had it figured out via DMZ and a wireless Access Point connected to my guest network via DDNS, but it only works when the AP is connected to the main wireless network. I have the BMCs static IP...

First of all , Thank you merlin for this awesome firmwares (Only reason to buy an ASUS Router) and the forum members here for lot of good information.

Here is my 2 router setup setup (of course both running merlin [378.51]):

Main Router AC66U , IP range 192.168.1.1-255 , Mask 255.255.255.0

Second Router AC68U WAN connected to LAN on the main router.
IP range 192.168.2.1-255 , Mask 255.255.255.0
WAN IP 192.168.1.2 (static)
LAN IP 192.168.2.1

Trying to play local Wifi iPad game over Internet with VPN using Merlin Formware

Hi guys,

I'm trying to play Monopoly for iPad with my family that lives far away but it only offers local wifi support for multiplayer, so I tried to set up a VPN through my Merlin AC66U and I still can't see or join games created by the host when we are all connected to it. I first tried the PTPP VPN and changed the IP pool for the VPN to be on the same subnet as the rest of my devices on my LAN (192.168.1.245-192.168.1.254). I added the firewall-start rule to the JFFS partition as well....

ASUS RT-AC68 USB Modem / USB Tethering

Thinking about trying to setup a secondary WAN connection using Verizon USB Modem for failover, the primary connection to WAN is Cable. Looking at the modems supported on the ASUS website @ http://www.asus.com/event/networks_3G4G_support/ and it appears that there are 2 devices supported for the US & Verizon on the ASUS website. Verizon Wireless USB760 Modem & Verizon PCD UMW190 USB Modem.

My home connection got dynamic public ip. My outlet runs 4g modem which is behind CGNAT so i guess no port forwarding. Is there anyway if i want to look at my outlet cctv ? Maybe openvpn or something ? My home router use rtn66u

Hello,

So I own a Asus AC68u router with Merlin 380.59 firmware and a Western Digital My Passport Ultra attached to it via USB 3.0. The USB 3.0 noise reduction is set off.

Normally I get transfer rates while copying files from the drive to my PC of around 40-50 megabytes per second (large files). Than when I need to reboot the router either from the webui or command line the transfer gets stuck at around 27 megabytes per second are won't go any higher, even for a second. Basically the...

Log only messages more urgent than not working

Hi,

I've setted logging to an external syslog server and all seams to work fine :)

Even so, as I only want to log severe events, I've setted the parameter 'Log only messages more urgent than' to 'Warning' but the router still sends all events with less priority (notice and info).

Does any one also experienced this problem?
