AP and Repeater

Hi all,

I Have an older N66U with Merlin's RT-N66U_3.0.0.4_374.35_4-sdk5 set up as an AP and another N66U that I bought recently with John's Fork RT-N66U_3.0.0.4_374.43_2-18E3j9527 set up as a repeater. Is there any wireless performance issues because of not having the same firmware on both routers? The sdk5 firmware is very stable but it doesn't work when I put it on both routers, the repeater mode on the recent N66U doesn't work well.

Thanks

Just going to say yes I read all the information thus far and the you cant go back once updated warnings. But hey this is the internet someone may have done it and how?

I am simply not impressed with performance at all not that the new builds are forthcoming, Not to say Merlinwrt is bad just to say this lock down has caused what was a pretty nice long range WiFi for me to become well 10 steps back into Wireless N speeds again.

Just curious if anyone has as of yet tried to or successfully...

Asuswrt-Merlin and IPTV issue.

Hi.

I've just bought an rt-ac56u router and flashed Asuswrt-Merlin (v. 380.61) and I'm trying to setup my internet and IPTV. My internet connection is PPPOE-based tagged with vlan 10, it's working just fine. However, I'm struggling with the IPTV setup. My ISP provides an IPTV service on vlan 20 using static IP address. Here's my question.

How can I assign a static IP address protocol to my IPTV interface, and keep PPPOE on WAN interface?

I managed to make it work in a different router...

is for the RT-AC68U the filesystem XFS supported?
i have currently the newest Asuswrt-Merlin installed (Version 380.61)

and here i have seen it exists a source file to reads the filesystem label and uuid

but i have not seen any read or write support

is the complete support for XFS planned(or maybe even already available?)?

and at the command 'cat /proc/filesystems' or...

Wireless GUI issues

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone else is having issues with the wireless tab in their Asus routers?

I have 2x AC87u's, and both are frequently having issues since 380.59 firmware in that basically it's like the whole page when you click on the wireless tab, is shoved up enough that all of the tabs at the top are cut off, and the apply button won't work.

Every other tab or part of the firmware works perfectly, but I am unable to change any wifi settings when this happens.

I installed the...

Hi Guys,

I read a lot around Asuswrt-Merlin and the reputation is really good. But I'm a beginner around that area. I invested in a Asus RT-AC88U but the software is bit creepy so to say. The firmware has changed a view times and actually I did the update to the newest version.

Version 3.0.0.4.380_3941.

Can I change from that version into Merlin 380.61 or do I have some risk to brick the router?
Is Merlin supporting Smart connect as well?

changing native ipv6 Prefix Length

first ever posting, so be gentle.
i have the following issue and i can't seem to solve it.

first basic info: my isp dishes out fixed ipv4 and ipv6 and has native ipv6 support. i am using a AC66U if that matters.

now the issue is that my isp give out /48 adresses but for some (stupid) reason the (latest) merlin firmware only allows /64.
i have tried running the following commands:

nvram set ipv6_6rd_prefix_length="48"
nvram commit

that does seem to change it, but a following reboot...

Firmware = 380.61
Router = AC68U

---

I have OpenVPN setup to only be used for one of the devices on my network and this setup has been working fine in subsequent versions of Merlin's firmware. When I upgraded, I'm noticing that when I activate my OpenVPN setup, my Wi-Fi slows to a crawl for my other devices.

One particular device is my Sonos Music speaker and while I can connect to it, the speaker itself can no longer connect to any music services. IF I turn off the OpenVPN...

Help with modifying the lights-on lights-off cron job.

Hi all,

I have had the lights-on / lights-off cron job running for a few months now (thanks Merlin !) but wanted to change it a little ...
I had it so that it turned on the lights at 17:00 every day, and turned them off at 00:00.
It also sends a WOL signal to my server at 17:30

But what I would like to change it to, is :
Turn on at 17:00 Mon - Friday .... turn off at 00:00
Turn on at 9:00 Sat - Sun .... turn off at 00:00

So after reading a bit more about cron, I came up with the following...

Problems with AC88U, ipV6 and Comcast

I upgraded from a Linksys E3000 running Tomato to an ASUS RT-AC88U first running the stock firmware and then upgraded to Merlin.

With Toastman and the E3000 I never had any problems with ipV6 and Comcast. It just worked. With the AC88U I'm having problems where IPv6 works for awhile and then stops. I tried switching to the latest Merlin from the stock firmware and it seems a bit better in that the router hasn't lost IPv6 as of yet, but I'm still having problems with LAN clients.

PPTP connection drops after "save"

Hello,

I'm using an RT-AC68U with v380.61 (latest).
I'm using time scheduling to block my children devices on certain times. Often I need to connect remotely over PPTP to switch time scheduling on or off.
After hitting the "save" button and watching the progress reaching 100% the connection over PPTP will always drop. In order to verify my last action I have to disconnect and reconnect again.

Anyone knows how to fix this annoying behaviour?

NFS Issues, Radius

Well I can't seem to get the NFS to work with Windows 10 v1607 Pro, I tried alot of things from other forums, like changing some thing in the registry, etc. The error I get is that there are a limited amount of connections to the computer and there all used up. That might not be exactly the wording, but it is something like that.

Also it would be nice if there was a simple built in RADIUS server on the router to issue certificates and all that, because I live in an area where there are alot...

However when I reboot none of these settings hold. They seems to constantly go back to their original values. I am on a ac-rt68W. Any ideas?

This is my first post after several years of using this firmware; thank you for developing and supporting it.

Recently I ran into a strange issue on RT-AC66U - any changes I'm trying to do with a web interface lead me to logging out with 'error_status=6' in the URL redirect.

This was a problem with 380.57 ; I tried to upgrade to 380.60, but the upload dialog never worked and lead to logging out.

After a couple of reboots the router has likely lost its state, and resorted to default...

I've uploaded some preview builds to the Test Builds folder on Mediafire. As usual, I will occasionally push new test builds there over the coming weeks.

No support is provided for these builds, they are only intended for early adopters, and early feedback. At this point not many changes, so there isn't much for people to test specifically.
