Hi all,

This is my first post and I am really new to this. So please go easy on me.

I know you are all very busy so all I am asking is a nudge in the right direction.
Due to increased GFW activity and VPN interferences I am forced to look into a different solution. With OpenVPN basically shut down I will probably give shadowsocks a try. This means I'll rent a VPS through e.g. digitalocean, install a recent Ubuntu (>14) and run a shadowsocks server there. This doesn't seem difficult...

UPnP Advertisement Time to Live

Is there an nvram setting for

upnp advertisement time to live & upnp advertisement period on merlin

since moving to an arm based router i have found upnp to be nothing but problematic
on both asus and merlin firmware whilst the ac66 was fine

devices are flakey at best seeing it

either that or if someone could point to to where its located in the source to edit

Setting up Transmission through Entware

With all the issues with DownloadMaster these days, I decided to write a little guide on how to install Transmission through Entware.

The process is quite similar to the one for Optware, except you'll get a newer version of OpenSSL. I believe this version includes the ASM optimizations that I also use in Asuswrt-Merlin, which should make hashing quite faster.

ASUS RT-N66U Port forwarding issue

I have a ASUS RT66U router, which was running Merlin RT-N66U_378.56_2 for months with no issues. I had port forwarding setup and devices on my network were contactable from outside my LAN. ASUS since then have made a change to their firmware in such when you upgrade, you can no longer downgrade.
Since I have upgraded to the latest merlin firmware RT-N66U_380.61_0 Everything works apart from port forwarding. I have done a hard reset on the device and setup my ISP connection, wifi, port...

Why doesn't Port Triggering work anymore?

Good morning folks!

Why has this feature stopped working within the WAN section? It used to work, I am running the latest build; .61 on a RT-AC68U.

I've had this problem before but with older firmware it has worked fine. I know I have the option to port forward, but I would like to use the Port Trigger, and yes I am aware I have the option of UPNP but I do not want that enabled.

Would there be a chance of a fix in the next release?

Cannot access samba

Hi,
I have an Asus RT-AC68U and Philips Blu-Ray player. My router was connected a USB drive.
When my router flash to offical firmware, the Blu-Ray player is working fine and it can access the USB drive.
If the router flash to melin firmware(380.60 bate1 - 380.61), the Blu-Ray player cannot access the USB drive and a message showed on the screen "authentication failure". I'm sure that username and password are correct and I can access the USB drive via windows. If the router flash back to...

Create static arp using services-start to survive reboot?

I'm trying to find out how to add i.e. arp -s 192.168.1.2 AB:CD:EF:1G:2F:3G to the services-start so that it can survive a reboot.

At the moment I've just entered the above string via kitty but it is not permanently added. Could somebody who knows about these things more than I point me to how to add this to the startup so it survives a reboot?

AC87 Not populating Client list

Not sure what to do here, I have tried both the Asus and Merlin firmwares and the client list when on the "Network Map" fails to populate. Thoughts/ideas?

Cycled the power on it, and reset the factory defaults, it didn't help.

Merlin 380.61 AC87 slow wired external traffic vs stock Asus FW

So my problem stands with transfer speeds on a gigabit internet connection (att gigapower). On the stock Asus FW I can get ~980 up/down but I am topping out at 297 on the Merlin FW. I have disabled the following in hopes that it would fix it but I cant seem to shake the problem:

  • NAT Loopback
  • adaptive QOS/QOS
  • traffic analyzer
  • Jumbo Frame
  • NAT Accel
  • Spanning Tree Protocol
  • Infected Device Prevention and Blocking

ipv6 issue

I have RT-AC66U, and few months ago I've enabled ipv6. It's been working fine for many months.

Yesterday I needed to test some software with ipv6 and i realized i don't have IP assigned.

at this point I had 380.59 installed and ipv6 page was showing blank for LAN IPv6 Address, LAN Prefix Length, LAN IPv6 Prefix. I've sshed into router, ipcofnig was showing just local link.
I've restarted router, router modem, modem router, disabled enabled ipv6, nothing helped. At this point I've installed...

DDNS update fail after update to 380.6+

After I updated my AC87U to the latest 380.60 beta2, my DDNS configuration to no-ip.org is not working anymore.
I only realized that today, so I downloaded the new version 380.61 and updated my router, and DDNS still not working.

After I choose server No-IP and correctly insert my login information, I press apply and the screen refreshes but the server list shows asus.com again. So, my DDNS is not updating at No-ip. After checking system log, I got the message below.

Stealth-LED power status only mode option

I've been bouncing back and forth between john9527's fork and Asuswrt-Merlin. Thanks to both of you for providing these options.

I really liked in john9527's fork the Stealth-LED power status only mode option. Is there an easy way to accomplish this in Asuswrt-Merlin 380.61? I'm running this on a AC68P. I'm assuming I could accomplish this using led_ctrl, but not sure of all the light numbers and if there is a simpler way.

So I own a Asus AC68u router with Merlin 380.59 firmware and a Western Digital My Passport Ultra attached to it via USB 3.0. The USB 3.0 noise reduction is set off.

Normally I get transfer rates while copying files from the drive to my PC of around 40-50 megabytes per second (large files). RT-N66U External Hard Drive Folder Gets Deleted

I have a 1 TB hard drive connected to my RT-N66U router. I'll load about 130GB of music to a Foobar folder on it and it's fine for a while. Then after a week or so I'll open Foobar and my library is gone. I look at the hd connected to my router and the folder has disappeared. This has happened consistently for the last 6 weeks. I just updated to the latest stable Asuswrt-Merlin build and I'll see if this helps. Anyone know why this is happening?

I have a problem with my RT-AC66U. On firmwares higher than 380.57 router is working fine, until reboot or shutting down. After reboot it doesn't boots up, LEDs are blinking but Wi-Fi not working and router can't be reached via LAN connection. To make router boot up again, I need to turn it off, press and hold reset button and turn it on at the same time. I have a Playstation TV/Vita TV (please don't stop reading here) that I use for streaming my PS4 games when I want to play upstairs. How to Block internet access to precise IP range at night?

Hi,

I have an Asus RT-AC87U with the latest Merlin firmware on it (380.61). I'd like to block internet access to ip range 192.168.4.103-192.168.4.200 during the night.
I've looked at the Firewall - Network Services Filter, but it seems impossible to specify a specific and precise IP range.

Is there a way to do this?
