Duel Wan issues

Hi
I have a duel wan setup comprising of a plus net fttc connection using the bt supplied vdsl modem and a virgin media connection using there hub3 in modem only mode both 50 meg connections.
This setup has worked well for the last few years using a draytek 2960 router.
This recently died so have replaced it with a ac5300 and this is where the issues have started.
I have tried both the latest Asus firmware and am now running the latest 61 merlin firmware both have the same issue.

Create static arp using services-start to survive reboot?

I'm trying to find out how to add i.e. arp -s 192.168.1.2 AB:CD:EF:1G:2F:3G to the services-start so that it can survive a reboot.

At the moment I've just entered the above string via kitty but it is not permanently added. Could somebody who knows about these things more than I point me to how to add this to the startup so it survives a reboot?

WAN Connection issues after upgrading to asuswrt-merlin 380.61

Hi Eric, et. al.

I have been using asuswrt-merlin for some time. It has been fantastic and i have never faced any issues after all my upgrades, until i upgraded to 380.61.

My WAN connection has been dropping intermittently since the upgrade. It becomes stable for couple of hours after i reboot it, before becoming unstable again (and the whole cycle repeats). I have been monitoring the syslog and not finding anything useful ... (Pls see attached excerpt..)

FYI - I am running a VPN client...

OpenVPN without NAT?

Greetings,

I want to create a OpenVPN server without using NAT, I have an ASUS RT-AC87U (Asuswrt-Merlin) with this OpenVPN configuration:

I don't see any option to do it. I have no idea what I have to do to connect two Windows computers as clients of my server without using NAT. Do I have to add any command to the config files or something like that?

I would be very grateful if something helps me and tells me what I have...

ipv6 issue

I have RT-AC66U, and few months ago I've enabled ipv6. It's been working fine for many months.

Yesterday I needed to test some software with ipv6 and i realized i don't have IP assigned.

at this point I had 380.59 installed and ipv6 page was showing blank for LAN IPv6 Address, LAN Prefix Length, LAN IPv6 Prefix. I've sshed into router, ipcofnig was showing just local link.
I've restarted router, router modem, modem router, disabled enabled ipv6, nothing helped. At this point I've installed...

Hi all,

This is my first post and I am really new to this. So please go easy on me.

I know you are all very busy so all I am asking is a nudge in the right direction.
Due to increased GFW activity and VPN interferences I am forced to look into a different solution. With OpenVPN basically shut down I will probably give shadowsocks a try. This means I'll rent a VPS through e.g. digitalocean, install a recent Ubuntu (>14) and run a shadowsocks server there. This doesn't seem difficult...

Configuring IPv6 neighbor

Hello and apologies if I made an error in topic name; I am not sure about the correct term.
Anyway, my ISP can only provide static IPV6 with/through the use of a neighbor, for which, when I was still using pfsense, I was told to use a "npd -s" command in a startup script. With asuswrt&merlin is it possible to configure this in GUI?
I tried through ssh, but "ndp" seems to be missing in asuswrt&merlin? Or am I doing something wrong? I am not too familiar with linux/bsd/... stuff :-/

Dnsmasq static DHCP assignment help

I've been trying to get a list of static DHCP reservations into my AC-68U without any luck. My network is 192.168.0.1/16 and the DHCP range in the GUI is set as 192.168.3.1 to 192.168.3.254. I'm trying to add a bunch of reservations not in this range, as seen below.

Here is my dnsmasq.conf which is reading in the dnsmasq.conf.add without a problem. The host assignments aren't happening, though. The hosts specified are getting assigned from the range specified in the GUI and not the...

WPA authentication fails when more than 32 devices are connected

Hi

I'm my Asus RT-AC3200 (380.59b1 firmware) for a local hotspot but I see that as soon as any of the 3 radios reaches 32 authorized clients it blocks any further WPA2-Personal connections even if the CPU is nearly idle and there is very little load on the network.

Can anybody guide me on how to remove such limitation? I can recompile the firmware myself if necessary, just need some pointers.

No IPv6 connectivity on RT-AC66, 380.61

Short description: I'm unable to access ipv6 only servers in the internet, even though I have a native IPv6 address. Ping6 does work between local computers and computer <-> router, however not between computer and internet (tested with ipv6.google.com) or even router and internet (timeout, 100% packet loss). There are no log messages in syslog.log that would help (see pastebin link).

What is ka6inet in WAN authentication settings?

Hi. In WAN page Authentication settings, never had seleced any options, but I've always seen only 802.1X option. Is ot ok that the ka6inet option appears there? I search in google for ka6inet and only obtain russians sites.

I currently use ASUS RT-AC68U 1900M router, and upgraded the RT-AC68U_380.61_0.trx firmware.

I active the VPN(PPTP) connection in router, and enable some static route rules and the dnsmasq.conf.add for different DSN servers.

Everything looks fine except to access the Google website by Chrome (Safari and Firefox no problem)

Wireless GUI issues

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone else is having issues with the wireless tab in their Asus routers?

I have 2x AC87u's, and both are frequently having issues since 380.59 firmware in that basically it's like the whole page when you click on the wireless tab, is shoved up enough that all of the tabs at the top are cut off, and the apply button won't work.

Every other tab or part of the firmware works perfectly, but I am unable to change any wifi settings when this happens.

Can't get SSH to work in Linux

Hi!

WinSCP worked great in Windows. In Linux I have tried Filezilla (didn't work in Windows either), but I get "Received unexpected end-of-file from SFTP server". Nautilus SSH and "scp" from the command line I cannot get to work either.

Help much appreciated. :)

DDNS update fail after update to 380.6+

After I updated my AC87U to the latest 380.60 beta2, my DDNS configuration to no-ip.org is not working anymore.
I only realized that today, so I downloaded the new version 380.61 and updated my router, and DDNS still not working.

After I choose server No-IP and correctly insert my login information, I press apply and the screen refreshes but the server list shows asus.com again. So, my DDNS is not updating at No-ip. After checking system log, I got the message below.

Hi Guys,

I read a lot around Asuswrt-Merlin and the reputation is really good. But I'm a beginner around that area. I invested in a Asus RT-AC88U but the software is bit creepy so to say. The firmware has changed a view times and actually I did the update to the newest version.

Version 3.0.0.4.380_3941.

Can I change from that version into Merlin 380.61 or do I have some risk to brick the router?
Is Merlin supporting Smart connect as well?

Creating Static Routes with MAN interface

Hi Everyone,

I'm creating some static routes on my AC66U and AC68U using the GUI interface under the LAN option. I'm wondering what the MAN interface is and what it would be used for. I understand the LAN and WAN parts but the MAN has me stumped as it usually infers some sort of metro network. Any guidance or info would be appreciated. Thanks.
