I am pleased to announce the release of CakeQOS-Merlin!

Current Version: 1.0.2 (Changelog)

CakeQOS-Merlin is a custom add-on for supported Asus routers with Merlin firmware that introduces CAKE QoS as an alternative to Traditional/Adaptive/FreshJR implementations.

Entware deluge segmentation fault on start up

I recently got an rt-ac86u and installed merlin version 384.17 on it.

I set it up running entware and deluge as I need deluge for socks5 proxy functionality. It was working as expected. I then attempted to get openvpn running for external access and made a mess of my router settings. That was 3 weeks ago.

To clean up the router I did a factory reset and reformatted 8gb usb drive. I created a 2gb swap file using amtm on the thumb drive.

Then I installed entware via amtm and then deluge....

Question on 5GHz Channels

I have been trying to minimize interference with other neighbouring 5Ghz networks but does anyone know why the choices are limited to 36-48 and 149-161??

I have an ac68u and am running Merlin 384.18. Currently its set on ch 1 and ch 48... I have another ac68 that is running ddwrt, and that allows 52 and higher channels... Just curious.

100% cpu usage on core 1 of AC88U

Hello,

I've been using the Merlin firmware for my router for quite a while now, and just today I noticed that core 1 on my Asus AC88U is pegged at 100% all of the time, and restarting the router does not solve the issue. This must have started in the last week, because I updated to the newest firmware about a week ago, and the router was not having this issue.

Is there a way to see what is using the processor in the router (similar to task manager)? The only thing I've done recently was...

Struggling with dnsmasq

I'm struggling with dnsmasq and a custom config.

What I'm trying to accomplish:
Porting a working dnsmasq install/config from Ubuntu to Merlin.
On Ubuntu there are 3 config files: dnsmasq.conf, static-hosts.conf and static-dhcp-hosts.conf (attached in zip).
The file static-hosts contains a series of hosts with fixed IP-adresses.
The file static-dhcp-hosts contains a series of hosts, their MAC-address and designated IP-adresses.

What is done on Merlin (running on RT-AC68U with 384.18):...

Per RT-AC86U router with RT-AC68P node.

1. Are changes to the router automatically applied to the node? Things like "Wireless Mode" or "Channel bandwidth", Etc?
2. If I reboot the router or schedule a reboot every Sunday AM, will the node reboot also?
3. Any words of wisdom regarding configuring the router?

Which version of QoS to use for gaming

I just recently bought an Asus 86U and was wondering what version of QoS I should use to get the best performance while gaming. I'm currently using the latest Merlin firmware.

My internet speeds are 350 down and 35. I've heard of Cake which seems to be pretty good but have no idea how to install it. I've also heard for my speeds I might just be better off not using QoS at all. I've tried Merlins adaptive QoS with fq_codel and using manual bandwidth settings but I noticed I got pretty high...

I signed up to ExpressVPN this week where their knowledge with Merlin is limited. Apart from this enquiry, their live support is fantastic with no waiting times.

I found information about setting up a VPN with a kill switch here.

When I spoke to ExpressVPN support twice, they said it's best to use their VPN application on my PC if I wish to use a kill switch. My question is this, does the Merlin VPN kill switch works?...

So to solve all the problems with installing dnscrypt with entware (or similar) then setting up various scripts to handle dnscrypt-proxy starting up including the ntp issue, I made my own installer for dnscrypt-proxy.

Requirements:
- ARM or MIPSEL based ASUS routers
- asuswrt-merlin firmwares or compatible
- jffs support and script enabled

Incompatibilities:
- No known issue

Missing libffi.so.6 in pyLoad 0.4.20 (Entware NG) after FW update to 384.18

Not sure it's strickly related to FW upgrade to Merlin 384.18 on a RT-AC66U B1, but since yesterday, from the first rebood I did after Fw update, I see this error on pyLoad Log:

ovpn server config with diversion/skynet...

I will make try to make this quick. My setup is anRT-AC86U running latest firmware and diversion+pixelserv/skynet. Freshly installed after a fully reset. I have a few questions:
1. What DNS Server should I use with this setup?
2. After setting up a vpn server, I cannot access any LAN devices, for example login to router, and ssh into router, settings are completely default.
3. my last issue is, when I vpn into the router, I get ads and does not seem diversion is blocking my vpn...
