Failover between OpenVPN Clients?

Hi there... my VPN provider at times will do maintenance at my preferred exit locations, even sometimes completely eliminating these locations without warning, causing my connection to go down. I must go through and manually enable another VPN Client that I had preconfigured for events like this... and after going through this a couple of times now, was hoping to automate this a bit more?

I was wondering if there is any technique out there for possibility configuring the router to...

My internet recently went out due to an ISP issue. During this state, I discovered that the devices on my LAN could not connect to each other.

I'm running Merlin 384.15 on an AC68U clone (RT-AC1900P). I have DNSFilter enabled with DoT, pointing at Quad9. It's a pretty vanilla setup except for using YazFi to isolate two separate guest networks, with a little custom section in iptables to allow the guest networks to access a printer.

I am hoping that there is a simple answer to this question ….and ideally a simple means of implantation via webui without recourse to complicated scripts. Can an OpenVPN Server run concurrently with an enabled OpenVPN Client allowing secure remote Router/LAN/WAN access whilst that VPN Client is running??

Anyone had recently problems with CloudFlare DoT?

Today I noticed problems working with Facebook. The browser (Mozilla) hanged on connection to static.xx.fbcdn.net. All other sites seems to be resolved fine. The problem appeared on all devices connected to the router (Windows and Linux PCs and Android phones). Finally I resolved it by switching to Quad9 DoT. In the begining I've just added Quad9 - the problem has been resolved partially. Still some unstabillity appear. When totaly removed...

We recently got 362 down and 36 up fibre broadband with Virgin Media here in the UK. I ran a few speed tests when we first got the broadband modem and the speeds were exactly as advertised as long as you were in the same room as the modem. In my bedroom upstairs though, it would be halved. However, there were hardly lag spikes in games we played which was good. My current setup is a per my signature. I was just wondering if somebody could confirm this for me. I have a schedule reboot running daily on my main router. On checking today on my nodes uptime, I noticed that their uptime equaled the reboot uptime of the main from the daily scheduled reboot. FYI - creating this thread because I can't find this issue/solution concisely documented anywhere else, please add any info below.

I have noted below what I think I understand (which is almost certainly wrong) in the hope of understanding how other users manage their use of external VPN services.
  • External VPN providers are split between those who have servers that fully support IPv6 tunnelling, those that send IPv6 traffic into a virtual black hole and those who do nothing.
  • OpenVPN has the capability to support IPv6 tunnels.
  • Currently Asuswrt-Merlin does not support sending IPv6 traffic though an OpenVPN...
