It would seem Asus had a change of heart about keeping the GT GPL locked down - they started posting the last few versions, including the most recent for the GT-AC5300 and they have posted the GPL to the release and current firmware of the GT-AX11000.

I'd like to hope they have had a change of heart and keep it up, as this was one of the three reasons Merlin has given for the lack of support.

- unreplied UDP timeout is set to 15 to help avoid potential NAT corruption with SIP clients

I am a newly registered forum member who is trying to utilize the Asus RT-AC86U wireless

Merlin Password Length

I recently created a new admin password for my Asus router running Merlin. My password manager created a 24 character password, which was accepted by the router, however I cannot signon as admin anymore. In researching the issue, it appears there is a 16 character password limit. I have tried taking the first 16 characters, the last 16 characters and several 16 character strings from the generated password and none work. I have also tried using the old password and default password...

5Ghz wifi stopped working on AC66U

Hi ,

my AC66U with 380.66_6 stopped showing the 5GHz wifi.
The settings are all ok and on the Web UI the 5GHz is enabled.

The dmesg show that the eth2 which should be initialized during startup is not created.
What could be the route cause for this?
Is it a hardware issue ?
How can i investigate where the problem could be?

My setup


Virgin Media Hub 3 in modem only mode, Line is maxed at 352 Mbs

RT-AC68U running Merlin 384.8_2

PC running ethernet connection directly to the RT-AC68U

My issue (I'm hoping someone may have had this issue and know a setting I can change)

IF I run through the Router , the max speed I get is 195-204Mbs

IF I run directly connected to the Hub, using the same cable from my PC , I max out at 350-360Mbs.

The year in review
We're getting close to the end of 2018. The Asuswrt-Merlin project had its 6th birthday last April, and is still going strong. The move to the new 382 (now 384) codebase was completed. With that move we bid farewell to the RT-N66U and RT-AC66U, as was originally planned. We also had to leave the RT-AC56U behind later on, as Asus has now put it on their official End of Life list, meaning there won't be any further firmware updates from them. Since it's...

I have an RT-AC68U (technically a TM-AC1900 that I flashed to Merlin) and just upgraded my internet to a gigabit connection. The fastest speed I can get on a wired connection through the router is 250-300 Mbps. The problem is that I cannot enable NAT Acceleration. When I try to set the option to Auto, the router reboots but NAT Acceleration stays disabled. I am using firmware 380.70. hi guys
I'm using an openvpn client setup on a router at home and things are working fine, but occasionally I notice lag or performance drops and I have been reading about PPTP VPN which are fast but less secure.

Is this really going to make much a difference? I have really no sensitive usage that requires encryption, and am happy even with no encryption as long as performance is good. What options do I have for such tunnels? I have an ASUS router with merlin custom firmware.

Not able to access router login with MS EDGE

First let me say this probably has nothing to do with the router I have (ASUS RT-AC86U) or Merlin's firmware. I am only asking it here because there is a lot of people here that would probably know about this kind of thing and I probably will get a fast response.

I can no longer access my router login page (you know, usually it's 192.168.1.1) using Microsoft Edge. I also can not access my NAS when typing in the address for it with Edge. However, I can access both my router login and NAS...

Dropping clients

This is odd...

I have a RT-AC3100 on 384.8_2, I'm also running Diversion for ad blocking. QoS is disabled.
For the last few nights, the router has been dropping 2 clients, 2 PCs; my bandwith is 400/25.

When I review General Logs, I see the router is reconnecting the 2 PCs in question. The only error log I see is:

ac86u seems to be stuck in boot loop after firmware update

hi,
I have an rt-ac86u that was running Merlin 384.7 just fine. Today I saw that there's 384.7.2 out so I downloaded it and started the update process. When it was done it said to boot the router manually, so I did. Since then it seems to be stuck in a boot loop. Power button turns on, computer seems to recognize the network cable is attached to something, a couple of lights turn on on the router but then it goes back to black and the cycle begins again.
