The year in review
We're getting close to the end of 2018. The Asuswrt-Merlin project had its 6th birthday last April, and is still going strong. The move to the new 382 (now 384) codebase was completed. With that move we bid farewell to the RT-N66U and RT-AC66U, as was originally planned. We also had to leave the RT-AC56U behind later on, as Asus has now put it on their official End of Life list, meaning there won't be any further firmware updates from them. Since it's...

I have an RT-AX88U with the latest Merlin firmware.
I've noticed that if I add a mac filter it stops the 5ghz wifi.
I've tried some suggestions I have found in various threads on here for restarting it via cli but none seem to work. Can someome please tell me how I can do this without needing to reboot?

Even though I think I have updated/router has autoupdated to signature version 2.102 and many prior. It only show the current date once until the page is refreshed. For instance 2.102 should be approx Dec 24. but instead the current build (and 3 or so prior) revert the specified date of change to : Updated : 2018/10/26 03:10.

Anyone know if this is a known issue or if I can fix this on my own. Just curious and want to help this amazing project a little tiny bit.

Hi,

I have purchased a new router - RT-AC68U and am trying to access my QNAP TS653 Pro remotely.

I am a bit of a newbie QNAP have been very helpful and have assisted via TeamViewer, but still no luck.

I have upgraded ASUS Firmware to Merlin, hoping this might provide access, but I am still unable to access my QNAP remotely.

I can access my QNAP on local LAN, no problem, but for some reason I am not able to access remotely.

I have attached a couple of screenshots.

Hi,

Since a while, I can no longer connect to my OpenVPN server setup on my router (AC66U running Asuswrt-Merlin 380.70). It's been working flawlessly earlier, and I have not changed any configuration afaik. I've tried connecting using two different units, but the OpenVPN just timeouts (see below). I've also tried setting up a PPTP server, but am not able to connect to that neither.

I've restarted the router and the another units as well. The VPN server and the DDNS are up and running....

Packets to be dropped seem to end in filter INPUT to be discarded by the default drop rule, how to redirect them to a LAN ip to act as a catchall?
Could save some trouble every time a service changes ports, it's an outwards facing box anyway so receiving unwanted traffic is no problem, or to run a honeypot.

I am having some issues with my router and am looking for some help. I may have more than one issue, but here is what I am seeing:

The most immediate problem is that suddenly my wifi download speeds have dropped. I used to typically get around 150mb download when connecting to my wifi from my wireless devices. I just checked today and I am getting 30mb. My internet is 1000mb service and directly wired clients get 300mb, so it must be a wifi issue. Just to test, I turned off the 2.4Ghz...

Hi. Does anyone know how one can format a USB as ext4 with journaling disabled, from within the router's shell interface? When I've used the disk formatting options it seems to automatically use EXT2. Without getting onto a debate between ext2 vs ext4, does anyone know how ext4 without journaling can be accomplished? I'm doing it remotely so using a linux install on a pc isn't an option unfortunately.

First of all, please excuse me for my English.
I need to automatically run a script every time after rebooting the router, as well as the cron once a week.
The problem is that the execution time of this script is about 11-12 minutes. If I add it to one of the standard user scripts (for example, post-mount), its execution stops after 120 seconds. If I run it manually - it works fine.
Is there any way to automatically execute this script during/immediately after router reboot?

Need some help folks:

Asus RT-N66U was running older Merlin firmware (from 2013) until yesterday. Router had been on for 3+ months without a reboot, so i decided to restart yesterday. [stupid move]

It never came back up so after ~10min i pulled the plug and did a hard reset. The router has been stuck in "Rescue mode" since.

I have tried to flash the new 376.48 build, as well as original asus firmware, tomato, etc. No matter what firmware i try, the router goes back into "rescue...
