I have an Asus AC RT68U router with the latest release of Merlin. I want to be able to run a VPN on it and have managed to set up a VPN connection using L2TP, I cant use Open VPN as it is blocked where I live.
The connection I have made is fine, however all traffic passes through the VPN when it is connected.
Is it possible in the settings to assign which connected items use the VPN and all the other connected items just use the router without passing through the VPN.

PC LAN card: Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller
Router: ASUS AC5300
OS: Windows 10

ASUS support have no clue!

I never had a problem transferring files from PC (LAN) to PC (wifi) with my old router. Every time I try to transfer files now, the LAN connection always drops out after about 10-180 seconds. It seems to be with large files.

My drivers are all up to date!

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm seeing a lot of the below in my system log. I've recently re initialised the RT88U running 384.7 but I am still seeing this in the logs.

I don't torrent anymore so I'd like to stop seeing these. I've poked around but cannot see where it is getting this data from? any thoughts?

For one of my devices I have been using client VPN routing rules without issues for quite some time now, but all of a sudden the routing rules stopped working and now all traffic seems to go through the VPN client and I can't figure out what happened :-/

I have double checked that the IPs have not changed/updated the IP's, so that's not the issue.

I've attached my routing table




I'm running Merlin 384.6 on a RT-AC3200 router

I have an ASUS DSL-AC68U modem router and I now am changing over my Internet connection from ADSL 2+ to FttP (Fiber to the Premise).

In doing so, I no longer need the ADSL 2+ modem function of the DSL-AC68U router and I wish to know if I can upload and use the firmware intended for its sister model RT-AC68U. I have often wanted to use the Asuswrt-Merlin firmware but the DSL-xx models are not supported.

Is this feasible? Will it work?

I am sorry, I am not up to date with opt/ent ware. From what I read entware is most up to date, and should be use/recommended. My question is:

- As for today, which script, manual should I use to switch to entware
- which directories can I remove afterwards (asusware, asusware.arm, entware, entware-ng...I have seen multiple on my HDD/tmp, probably leftovers for whatever was happening there for the past couple years I had rt87u )
- once entware is installed does it mean optware is no...

I noticed a number of things upon loading latest 384.6 (RT-AC3200) FirmWare with regard to privacy and more.

Please read, consider, discuss and help drive/demand greater safeguards consumer protections and users privacy. Thank You!

I'm becoming more and more wary of data sharing. Many say to turn off "AiProtection" services like IPS because TrendMicro (TM) now sees what your router sees, i.e. not a stand alone applet in router and not a one-way pull of threat definitions from TM to router...

I have a RT-AC86U that I have been running stock ASUSWRT for a couple of weeks now.
But I've been having issues getting OpenVPN client to work - it says is connected, but I lose all internet.
After a number of email ping-pong with the VPN provider I have had the following response.

So to solve all the problems with installing dnscrypt with entware (or similar) then setting up various scripts to handle dnscrypt-proxy starting up including the ntp issue, I made my own installer for dnscrypt-proxy.

Requirements:
- ARM or MIPSEL based ASUS routers
- asuswrt-merlin firmwares or compatible
- jffs support and script enabled

Incompatibilities:
- No known issue

Hello,
after updating to 384.7 all 2.4 Wifi connections dropping after few minutes.

in 384.6 there was same issues but it works stable with follow settings:

Wireless Mode: N only
Channel bandwith: 40 Mhz
Modulation Scheme: Up too MCS 7
Multi-User MIMO: Disable

i already tried to change settings but no luck in 384.7. So i take a downgrade to 384.6

I just moved my 5300 back from a mesh setup and having a devil of a problem.

I have formatted my USB stick on the router and it always fails to mount. I pulled it and formatted on Ubuntu, again no mount back on the router. Purchased a new stick again, no mount. Tried 4 sticks in all. 1 was my stick remaining from when I left merlin and tried mesh so I know it was in an ok status. I purposely safely stored it away.

I am hoping that I have been away long enough to miss something very stupid...

Hi! This is my first post and sorry if this has been discussed before (did a search in the forum but it returned 0 results)

I've upgraded my poor/old D-Link 655 to this eminent router and really like the touch and speed, but I'm missing one part.... And that is to be notified when something is wrong. My 655 did e-mail me when it restarted (after a power loss or similar) or when something went wrong.

Is this possible to implement to the Asus RT-66U?

Hey guys, been using Merlin firmware for several years on several 68u and 66u routers spread across multiple family members houses pretty much all without issues. I recently decided to upgrade to the latest 384.6 and then to 384.7 firmware on my 68u at home from 380. I have factory reset the router twice to to try and fix this issue, but it always crops back up and reboot constantly.

I have 300 Mbps internet and my speed after a couple days will just basically shrink down to half or even...
