AC-68U: connection dies when disabling vpn-client

I have VPN service which I use sometimes. When I enable it, no problemo. When I disable it, connection stops working. It doesnt give any 404 or any other error, it just wont work. This has been for 2 years now, even if I update merlin everytime there is an update.

Router: Asus AC-68U, merlin 384.3

Any ideas how to fix this? Here is example log when I disable VPN:

AMTM app(s) seem to cause DNS resolving issue [VPN split tunneling setup]

Recently I replaced my n66u for an ac86u. I moved the config quite exactly, including the split tunneling OpenVPN config, where my Synology NAS bypasses the permanent OpenVPN tunnel directly to the WAN (so I can have hasselfree remote access to its apps/webservices).

This worked so far so good before and after the migration, until I installed Diversion/PixelServ/Skynet. After this, the synology couldn't resolve URL's anymore. Inbound connection is ok, I can access the webservices...

I have an RT-AC3100. My current Android phone (7.1.1/Moto Z2 Play) is my primary internet, which sucks I know, I can't get anything else.

I am very heavy on my LAN usage because I have to archive anything I can. I download large files (drivers, new Windows releases, cumulative updates, anything I can really on my phone during work then...

I have a Yamaha AV system which uses MusicCast to relay sound over wifi to wifi speakers etc.
In earlier Merlin Firmware [380.?] the MusicCast would not work at all without IGMP set to enabled in Professional wifi settings [2.4 through to 5Ghz]

In firmware 384.7 MusicCast seems to work without IGMP enabled - after factory reset and full rebuild.
Then ... when I enabled IGMP [assuming it is better to do so to prioritise this traffic] I get the above error?

Ignore error? [MusicCast is still...

I'm using an RT-AC86U with Asuswrt-Merlin version 384.6; I'm experimenting with routing a specific device through the router's VPN connection while all others go to the WAN.

Initially I added a rule for the device's IP address, destination address 0.0.0.0, with iFace set to VPN. With the VPN connected, the device in question then couldn't access web pages.

After tearing my hair out for a bit, I finally figured out why - the router was sending the device's DNS requests to the VPN...

Merlin 384.7_beta2 (3?) @ AC68U HDD spindown(sleep) does not work.

When I tried Merlin 384.7_beta2, I was offered a new option of spinning down an attached USB HDD by timeout, as it is regularly done by any user OS.

But for some reason my HDD always spins, regardless of timeout.

HDD: Adata Superior SH02 (SAMSUNG HM502JX) with native USB2 interface.
USB port: blue USB3 port in USB3 mode.
Add-ons: SAMBA, download center. Nothing is downloading, queue is empty. SAMBA is also empty, but in master-browser mode for improving WIN network responsiveness.

RT-AC68U - Block IP Range from Accessing Another IP Range

I am running the following:
Merlin WRT (384.7).

I have noticed that the 'Network Services Filter' doesn't work. I tried to block 10.0.0.52 from accessing 10.0.0.4 on all ports, but still connections got through.

I have tried to use jffs folder /jffs/scripts with the script name: run_firewall_rules.sh
I have done chmod 777 on run_firewall_rules.sh, rebooted router and still it doesn't block all traffic.

OpenVPN routing IPV6

I'm having an issue with the OpenVPN server on my ac3100.

The internet that the ac3100 is connected to has ipv4 and ipv6. The internet that I'm connecting the client from only has ipv4. In the settings on the router I have set route lan only. I only want the client connecting to the lan of the ac3100.

However when I use the client to load an ipv6 supported site it goes through the vpn instead of using ipv4 and connecting directly to the internet.

Is there any way to stop this?

Is there a setting I am not using in Merlin (384.7)?

my troubles flashing an Asus RT-AC68P

I'm having trouble flashing an RT-AC68P. (This unit uses the same firmware as the AC68U.) Right now my unit is booting up into the ASUSTek CFE miniWeb Server. From there I have tried flashing Merlin builds 384.6 and 384.7. I have also tried stock Asus firmware and two recent dd-wrt builds.

I prefer the Merlin 384.7 build, but that this point I am just trying to get any non-stock firmware to flash successfully.

I was previously running RT-AC68U_3.0.0.4_378_8258-g847cc77.trx, and my problems...

Samba v2.0 not working

Asus RT-AC68U / Merlin 384.7 (same for 384.6)

It really looks like SMB 2.0 does not work as well as 1.0+2.0 option.

It was mentioned here earlier (here), but I observed the same issue on Ubuntu 18.04.1: it is not possible to view shared router HDD with any possible option rather than SMB 1.0. So it is definitely not Windows 10 issue.

Any comments on this?

cron to change WiFi SSID at 11pm?

pushing my luck as a newbee, got two teenage kids and want to disable their wifi at 11pm week nights (sun to thurs) and midnight friday & saturday. Comes back at 5am following day

i've seen I can cron tab turning the whole wifi off/on, but curious if i can do a ssid change which they dont know the password of night-time ssid?

ssid = daytime
day range: sunday - thurs
time range: 5am - 11pm
day range: fri - sat
time range: 5am - 11.59pm

ssid = night-time
day range: sunday - thurs
time...
