Strange Log Entry
I just rebooted my router a few hours ago and have never seen this in the logs. Can someone shed some light on it please?
EDIT: The reading I have done on google is kind of hard to understand what is causing this. I rebooted the router after updating Skynet Firewall.

380.68_4 - Transmission port is always closed

Something wrong with my 3200 and Transmission.
Transmission is always showing that the port is closed

even though I've already open the port in firewall-start script.

Asus RT-AC3200 and iOS wifi flakey
My family has terrible experience on iOS devices (all) with wifi dropout and freezes. All other devices (Android, Windows, Fire TV, various iOT etc. all seem fine. Asus Tech Support suggested doing:
nvram set wl1_reg_mode=h
However I've seen in separate thread that this won't do anything as firmware ignores this. Does anybody have any advice on how to resolve the poor experience on iOS devices? I'm using latest Merlin firmware.

Policy based routing - speed of non-VPN connections
Hi
I'm just thinking about the best way to implement VPN for specific clients only on my home network.
I have an RT-N66U (with latest AsusWRT-Merlin firmware). I understand that using VPN on this router will considerably slow down download speeds due to processing requirements for VPN encryption.
The question - if I use policy based routing, will the clients that are not sent through the VPN also have a slow connection as a consequence of processing resources being focused on VPN...

RT-AC88U Smart Connect Rules
Hi all,
Just pondering if anyone has any input on these rules. Notice in my house that everyone always connects to the 2.4ghz band even though they all have access to 5ghz.
I know the simple way is too forget the 2.4ghz band, but some parts of the house the 5ghz band isnt all that strong so 2.4ghz is required.
Is this section the right place to help ensure devices connect to 5ghz when signal is at its strongest?

RT-AC88U: Forwarding traffic between OpenVPN server and OpenVPN clients
I have an RT-AC88U at home, running Merlin 380.68_4.
The box runs an OpenVPN server. I can remotely connect to and access my LAN, and forward traffic out to the Internet.
The box also runs several concurrent OpenVPN clients with selective routing. From my LAN, traffic is correctly routed to each of these VPNs.
All of the above operates in TUN mode and works as expected.
The only thing that doesn't work is having the server and the clients talk to each other. In other words, if I connect...

Strange behaviour with VPN connection
I am running 380.68_4 on a RT-N66U and connecting to IP Vanish.
My IPTV will not work after a router reboot unless I do the following.
1. Turn the vpn off (servive state to OFF)
2. Change IPTV channel - I can view the channel
3. Turn the vpn on (servive state to ON) and allow it to connect
Just turn the VPN off then on again does not work.
I can now change channels and view them all. I can now see the traffic going up on the VPN Status page.
Any thoughts or idea on what I may have...

[RT-AC66U][380.68_4] WAN disconnect issue

Last stable firmware for RT-AC66U is 380.66_6. After that my router keeps disconnecting from WAN like every 10-15 minutes. I have tried both Normal and Aggressive DHCP query frequency but it has no effect. After my WAN disconnects I have to log on my router and click Quick Internet Setup. It thinks a while and my WAN connects to ISP. It will not connect to ISP if I don't do this. I left my router for week when I went to worktrip and it didn't connect. I have tried every...

i just wanted to say that i found this site after trying to find a solution to errors i encountered while trying to run "firewall-start" scripts from the Asus-Merlin Wiki.
i actually have almost 0 experience with the commandline interface so i pretty much got stuck on the first step after SSH'ing into the router. (how to create a script file. lol)

DUAL WAN: how to fix new clients to specific WAN?

since two weeks I have two vDSL connections at home, both the same speed: 50/10Mbit. I use the Dual WAN function of my ASUS RT-AC87U, so WAN1 is connected to the WAN Port, WAN2 to LAN2 (for some reason I cannot use LAN1, maybe someone could tell me why).
I use load balancing as Dual WAN option and my idea is to spread all clients with routing rules even to each WAN. I do this because Dual WAN makes it almost impossible to browse the internet or use services like Skype, Facetime...

I have read and use the DHCP PXE config with my RT-AC87 already. I would like to know if there is a way to configure UEFI DHCP settings. Using the following example: dnsmasq.conf located /jffs/configs with the dhcp-boot=pxelinux.0,,192.168.0.1
Works perfectly for PXE BIOS booting. Looking to support iPXE/UEFI BIOS booting. Anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance!
