VPN TOR Settings

Just updated my RT-N66U with Merlin's version 378.52. My question under VPN settings TOR menu, what is TOR? as I have googled and haven't found any positive info with regards to TOR with RT-N66U.

Any assistance would gratefully received.

My (UK) ISP is blocking more and more torrent sites / forums.

I read through this thread - but it doesn't actually work.

Does anyone implement any router-level fixes to get around this? I'd happily pay for a VPN if that was the answer - but Ideally I want a per-URL solution, so not all my traffic is routed through a proxy / VPN, only the troublesome websites.

[RT-AC66U] [380.62] Samba as PDC Possible?

Greetings,

I tried searching existing threads in this forum to see if someone has already answered this question, but I didn't find anything specific - so I do apologize if this is a repeat.

Is it possible to run Samba as a Primary Domain Controller on an RT-AC66U running the Asuswrt-Merlin firmware? I'm running the just-released 380.62.

I've already got a USB disk installed + Entware NG, with the swap mounted on the USB. I've got one custom script that's running - and works beautifully...

IPv6 Not working AC5300

I have seen several post of others with the same problem, but no fix.

Problem: Cannot get IPv6 address
Provider: Comcast with Comcast Modem & with Netgear c600
Router: AC5300
Firmware: Merlin 380_62. Same with beta and previous verson. Also with earlier Asus firmware

Is anyone else having this problem or are aware of a work around.

The brute force SSH protection on/off made no difference with either firmware.

Running 380.62 on AC88U overclock

I was able to set 1600,800 on my router until I put this version on. Is there something I am missing? Currently when I boot up, it defaults to some horrible low clock for protection is my guess. any advice please. I put a leaf blower fan on the router as it sits in my network closet so it is cooled really well.

dropped connections Asus AC-RT68U

The last few releases, i've noticed problems with dropped connections from my wireless laptop on 5GHz. They last a minute or so before my laptop re-connects. I thought it was a wireless issue but when i've got my putty session up at work, it too can lose the connection despite the server being wired to the router through a couple of switches. This didn't happen when I first flashed merlin ddwrt with 378.56_2, but im running 380.61 now and its been happening with the wireless at least...

380.62 6in4 ipv6tunnel routing issue(s) on ac56u

Hi,

I'm using the he.net 6in4 tunnel for having dual stack on my hosts.
Sadly since .62 it seems, my wifi clients get their ipv6 adresses, also dns gets promoted correctly but the routing is messy.
The ipv6 router-address the clients get is a fe80-address and thus it happens that internet is a bit messy as ipv6 is on but routing is crap [emoji23]

Is this a known bug? Otherwise it should be now :)
Dors anyone has a fix without downgrading?

Hey there,

Just spent half of today reading through what you guys are doing here, with the Merlin version of the official Asus firmware. Will start with GREAT JOB, Keep it up!

Now, the other half of the day, I've been trying to flash N66U, AC68U, AC56U as well as N16 Merlin distribs to my new RT-N18U, with not much luck. Well, it does start, but hangs badly..

Reading around the forum, my N18U is powered by an BCM47081 ARM CPU, which seems to be a single-core version of the BCM4708 ARM CPU...

Dual WAN bonding and throughput?

I see there is a dual WAN feature in the routers firmware (I have an RT-AC87U and RT-AC88U) and it can do failover or load balance. I am wondering on the load balance mod, can or does this act similar to bonding the WAN connections? Or does it only load balance between clients connected to the router? And does anyone know what the max real world throughput of the WAN -> LAN data would be? I am hoping to use one of these routers to get as close to 2gb/s WAN speed from two internet...

Weird DNS problem (RT-AC68U running 380.59)

Thanks to all for the tips for updating my RT-AC68U from a very old build.

But unfortunately, the problem that I was trying to fix didn't go away. Every few hours, it appears that the DNS on the router goes down. Connectivity is lost and remains this way for around 10 minutes. I don't see anything odd in the System Log.

I can usually restore connectivity if I toggle the WAN DNS...

Is there a way to save Traffic Analyzer data from RAM?

I've had a new RT-AC68U running for just over a week on 380.61 and just updated to 380.62, using the default save-to-ram setting for the traffic analyzer. Is there a way to capture this data and move it to a flash drive so that the data isn't lost on reboot of the router?

Also, is it possible to force the router to save the latest data to the flash drive when a reboot is requested?

problem with quagga

I have the server in LAN which have quagga, also I installed quagga on Asus AC68U. But server and router don't see each other (in ospfd). Same configuration with another server works fine.

router: asus rt-ac68u
version: 380.62

ospfd version 0.99.16

I have two problems with the N66U
1) I mistakenly entered in the field "access to the WEB GUI" a wrong IP address and now I can not access the router. I wouldn't do the reset, is it possibile to modify this setting by telnet command?

2)I have 2 subnets at home. A Modem TP link with ip address 192.168.1.1 and the router asus with IP address 192.168.2.1. I conncted the 2 lan so i I can ping from 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.2.1 when the firewall on N 66U is turned off. Now i'd like to enable...

Rt-ac56u 5ghz channels missing

I hate to ask this because it seems like I should know but I just bough an rt-ac56u.
It had cfe 1.0.1.9, I upgraded the cfe to 1.0.2.9 hoping it would improve the 2.4ghz problem. It didn't but now I notice that my 5ghz channel selection stops at 140.
My rt-ac68u goes up to 161.
I'm in the US and the cfe I flashed was labeled US.

Why don't I have the choice to select 161 for the rt-ac56u?

I posted in this subforum because Ive tried Johns latest fork and RMerlin 380.59
Btw, is there any way...

Hello. I'm using RT-AC56R and I had some problems with my router, when I am trying to set the port forward rules.

First, when I push the 'Apply' button, router makes a port forward rule(I can see that at the log screen), but it doesn't 'apply' actually. Only way to apply the rules is rebooting the router. However, 'Access from WAN' option(this option, actually, is adding port forward rule that opening the port 8080 to gateway:80) is work correctly and immediately, when I push the 'Apply'...

It seems like the page LAN->DHCP Server keeps loading. After a while the script logs out the admin user.
I try to change some settings in DHCP but the script logs out before completing the setting changes.
It looks like ajax_uploadicon.asp contains a script that keeps loading data or is in an infinite loop.

I updated my Asus AC87U firmware to ASUSWRT-MERLIN 380.62 then
try to set 50 characters long password for Administration password of Asus AC87U router, it set it ok but when I went back to login, I canot enter long password in password textbox, I realised the password box lenght limited to 18 I increased it to 50 manuallt by browser developer tools and put the user name and password to login to Asus AC87U with Asus,
it logined but all UI crashed and missy, any fix to enable us...

Custom script screwup, router won't boot

I was messing with a startup script while away from home (I know, I should have left it alone), and something I did to the services-start script is now preventing my router from booting. I can ask a friend to go over and reboot it, but it will probably still crash when it tries to load the script again. Is there a way to disable the jffs (or services start) without completely resetting my (a68u) router to its defaults? Thanks for any advice.
