Double NAT custom DDNS script

Double NAT custom DDNS script

I have made a double NAT custom DDNS script for asus router (and possibly others as well) working for DDNS provider NOIP. The issues with double NAT is that our asus router does not report the external IP, only the ip reported for the WAN interface. For that reason it is necessary to perform a lookup on an external site (http://icanhazip.com/ and http://ipv4.myip.dk for backup).
Other examples of this script might be...

RT-AC3200

This seems to be a pattern, wondering if anyone got any ideas to troubleshoot? Don't think got anything too esoteric running, outside of SMB sharing/Time machine. Which seem to stop working properly when this happens too.

Router is still routing traffic fine, but after around 7-8 days uptime, it will no longer fully login, and network drive sharing also stops working.

When logging into web admin, the login page appears, but once put in name/password, the next screen never...

Guys,

Anyone tried this method? Does it actually work? Any side effect to doing this?
Thanks.

Semi Smart Connect rules setup

Hi.

I wan't to accomplish the following with my AC3200 tri-band router:
5GHz-2 band: AC-devises connect only to this band.
5GHz-1 band: 5Ghz (non-ac) capable devises connect only to this band.
2.4Ghz: all other devises that can't connect to 5Ghz connect to this band.

I am experiencing that AC/5GHz devises often stays on the 2.4Ghz band, which is really annoying, given that the 5GHz channels are always better (in my scenario).

I know a can just disable smart connect...

Is anyone experiencing issues with the 5ghz radio on the 380.61 build?

I was having periodic rebooting on the 380.58 build and the 380.59 build made my router unusuable, i had to downgrade back to 380.58 because the web interface became super slow and the router wasn't acting right.

I flashed to 380.61 and now it will work absolutely great for 3 or 4 days and then my 5ghz radio seems to just crap out. It will keep broadcasting but all of a sudden my devices will disconnect and if i...

NTP Daemon for ASUSWRT/Merlin

This will be a little package that provides a real Network Time Protocol daemon for your Merlin router and perhaps ASUSWRT too. It will keep your router's clock more accurate than you possibly ever want.

Why bother using it over the stock? Because it uses much less RAM than the NTP shipped in current ASUSWRT or Merlin and yet does much more and doing in a proper way.

It's also an add-on i.e. install to an existing firmware without re-compiling any software. Added bonus is a GUI showing a...

Over the last year, Asus has been moving an increasing amount of code into closed-source binary files, as they seek to prevent end-users (and third party developers) from bypassing existing radio regulations, most particularly those recently put in place by the FCC. While this does allow third party developers to continue their work, it creates a couple of problems, and make my work on this project increasingly difficult.

Whenever a new GPL release is published by Asus to accompany a new...

Unable to remove 1 entry from wirless MAC filter list

Hello, new poster here.

I have a RT-AC87 and have been running the Merlin firmware for the past year. Currently I'm on 380.62b1.

The problem I'm having is that in my wireless MAC filter list I have an old entry from a device I no longer have and I can not delete this entry from the list. In my MAC filter list I have 14 entries for 13 devices I use and 1 I don't. The device I no longer use is still listed in the filter list after multiple (MULTIPLE!) attempts to remove it by clicking on...

Netflix proxy error

Since yesterday I started getting "You seem to be using an unblocker or proxy" error on all devices.

I live in the UK, just accessing regular UK Netflix with no VPN or region related DNS configuration.

My ISP gives me a /29 which I use to SNAT the outbound requests for my clients, what I found is that the only way to prevent the proxy error is to SNAT with the primary WAN IP assigned to my router (which I don't want to do).

I can only put this down to:
1) My /29 has incorrectly been added...

RT-AC68U 380.61 Issue with local DNS when DNSSec is turned on

Whenever DNSSec is enabled in LAN -> DHCP Server -> Enable DNSSec support, DNSmasq seems to not want to listen on 127.0.0.1. This breaks any local router name resolution since /etc/resolv.conf is set to use 127.0.0.1. As soon as that option is disabled, or the "dnssec" parameter is removed from the /etc/dnsmasq.conf file, local name resolution starts working again. Regardless of whether dnssec is enabled, dnsmasq listens on br0 just fine and name resolution from WLAN/LAN devices works...

Using a MiFi or similar to provide back up WAN on RT-AC68U

I was hoping to use my Verizon Jetpack MiFi 6620L (Novatel is the actual manufacturer) as a back up WAN connection via the USB port. The MiFi has a specific tether mode that can be enabled either permanently or ad hoc at power on. I have attached the device to the USB port and it is recognized as a Novatel 6620L. I have tried both options in the USB settings, as a modem (with several different setting that I have found on these forums) and flipping the "USB Modem" to off, in the hopes...

I noticed that my LAN port 3 and 4 no longer work when plugin a network wire into AC5300. It have been on RMerlin since 380.57 and now on 380.61. Usually the other end of the wire is connected to my PC and get a led indicator to see if it is on. Using the same wire, LAN port 1 & 2 get the lights, but port 3 & 4 do not. In the Tool tab, status report on 3 and 4 link as down / on VLAN 1. Anyone had have this issue before and how was it gotten resolved.

Also I am not using IPTV setup....

Dual WAN bonding and throughput?

$

I see there is a dual WAN feature in the routers firmware (I have an RT-AC87U and RT-AC88U) and it can do failover or load balance. I am wondering on the load balance mod, can or does this act similar to bonding the WAN connections? Or does it only load balance between clients connected to the router? And does anyone know what the max real world throughput of the WAN -> LAN data would be? I am hoping to use one of these routers to get as close to 2gb/s WAN speed from two internet...

Questions about packages

Hi,

Once again, I come back to you looking for help.

I tried to install Flexget on my router (RT-AC56U running the latest version). v2 of flexget uses a python library (lib2to3) to translate some python code (I think). A couple of months ago, the only way to use flexget would be to comment some lines here and there, and it would kind of work (there were some caveats, but its main functionalities were there). Some people asked about it on the flexget github issue tracker, which in turn...

pixelserv-tls

pixelserv-tls is a fork of pixelserv with added support for HTTPS - the tiny webserver that responds to all requests with "nothing" and particularly useful for whitelisting hosts on troubled websites, and for mining "big data" on adservers and trackers.

Certificates for adserver domains are automatically generated at real-time upon first access. All requests to adserver are optionally written to syslogd. The stats in text format are preserved, good for command...

Site survey won't show 5ghz networks

...when not using channels 36 to 48.

Hi,

I got two AC68U running on 380.59.
Both are HW ver. A1 as EU models.

I just discovered they won't show any 5ghz network in the site survey when they are set to use any channel higher than 48 in the 5ghz band.
Setting them back to channels 36 to 48 the site survey lists both bands correctly.

I can't remember this behaviour from the past and haven't done any survey in the last months.
Anyone here can tell something about that?

Tried some board...

Asuswrt-Merlin 380.61 is now available, for all supported models.

This is the first official release that supports Asus's new firmware format. This means that you can directly flash this version on top of Asus's 3.0.0.4.380_3xxx and newer. Reverting to an older version will require putting your router in firmware recovery mode.

The most important changes since 380.59:

  • Compatible with the new firmware header format.
  • Merged with Asus GPL 380_3831.
  • Updated OpenVPN to 2.3.11...
