Gigabit speeds w/ ac86u & Rogers Gigabit

Hi,

I've been at this for 2 weeks after troubleshooting an issue with regards to the modem, line outside being cut by Bell doing fibre upgrades, and line noise that appeared out of no where.

I can finally get 40 up and 900 down when I connect directly to the modem in bridge mode. I know I was able to get those speeds through the router at one point after swapping out the ac68u for the ac86u. What I am getting is 34 up and 400 down at best through the router.

WiFi range RT-N66U vs. RT-AC68U

I tried to replace my venerable RT-N66U by the powerful und fully supported RT-AC68U. I know that the N66 has an excellent WiFi performance, nevertheless I'm disappointed by the AC68. After buying an used router I couldn't believe it and bought even two more! While the N66 supplies the whole (wooden) house with WiFi (2.4 GHz), the range of the AC68 is simply not sufficient. It's even outperformed by a TP-Link TL-WDR4900 providing Freifunk (free WiFi).

A few months ago I noticed my ISP (Optimum) started blocking my custom DNS settings for Cloudflare that I've been using for a long time on this router. I'm assuming their starting to block external DNS and want everyone to use their internal DNS for injection/tracking/etc, so I switched to the Cloudfare DoT in the "WAN DNS Setting" area and everything started working again.

One day a week or two later I noticed that some of my clients, like my iPhone, suddenly were acting as if domains were...

WAN Via WiFi

How do I reconfigure an RT-AC68U to get its WAN connection via WiFi?

I'm aware that I can change "Operation Mode" to Repeater, but that makes additional, undesired changes, such as altering its LAN IP address. I have an AC68U with an ISP router upstream. I want to just (manally) switch the AC68U from using the ISP router to using my cell phone when the wired connection goes down, and then switch it back to the ISP router when the wired connection comes back up.

AC86U: Dual WAN Routing Rules - Trying to set *only* one device to use secondary WAN

I'm just trying to configure the dual wan options, not for load balancing or failover, I just one device to use the secondary wan interface. Everything else I'd like route thru the primary wan interface.

All devices are on the same subnet. Now, I can get my one device to reliably route thru secondary wan, but other devices are routing out thru either one..

I can't write rules for every device on the network, and everything else I've tried does not route this one device over secondary wan...

A month ago (or so) I upgraded from an AC68U that have served me well to a AX88U (Black Friday sale ). Never ran it on stock FW as I have run Merlin on the AC68U “forever”. Running the beta (starting with 1 and updating to 3 today). I am experiencing issues with the clients on the wired network losing their connection to the LAN. After a bit of troubleshooting (the normal restarts of the router and such) I ended up checking the IP config and it turned out that for some reason the IP had been...

Manually Assigned IP list size

I am running 384.19 on a RT-AC88U (AC3100). The Manually Assigned IP option says Max Limit : 128 entries. However, as I entered my light bulbs and systems, I got to about 70+ entries and I could not apply. I received the warning to reduce the list length or shorten device names. My question is what is included in a Manually Assigned IP entry? I assume MAC Address, IP Address, DNS Server, and Hostname only?

Hi Everyone,

I researched a lot but I couldn't find a proper fix Status: Authorizing issue. I want to use Let's Encrypt at my RT-AX86U and Merlin 386.1 Beta. Can you tell me advise? I turn off Firewall for connection with Let's Encrypt servers. It stuck at Authorizing. I need help. Thanks.

Help to understand an error message on hdd

Hello
After an update of Skynet with an error (I have seen the error go by quickly and it seems to me that it indicates filesystem in read only mode) I had to reboot my router rt-ac86u.
After the reboot on the system log I see these messages:

Nordvpn IPTV and Buffering with IPTV.

Hello I was wondering when I turn on Nordvpn with my IPTV I get lots of Buffering. When off it disappears. I have it set up on the VPN client in AC 86u using Merlin. I live in outside Toronto and using the recommended server that Nordvpn recommends. I was wondering if there is anything else I may be missing?? I did follow the instructions to the T. High Ping on 5hz Guest Network

I started noticing that I was getting high ping when doing speedtests and my sons have been complaining of high ping when gaming. So, I remembered that one of the last things I did was I enabled the 5ghz wifi network to keep all devices separated from our main LAN.

For some reason I decided to just disable the 5ghz network and the high ping issue went away immediately... if I enable it, the ping goes to over 100 and the internet gets very sluggish.
It's weird because I use the regular 5ghz...

Wifi scale works with AC66U_B1 not with AC86U

I have a wifi scale (Weight Gurus model 0396, 2.4 GHz only) that worked fine for years with my AC66U_B1 when it was my primary router.
I just switched to using a new AC86U as the primary router, same SSIDs/passwords/etc, running Merlin 384.19 and AiMesh, and now use the AC66U_B1 as an AiMesh node (ethernet backhaul).
ALL the rest of my ~50 devices connect to the AC86U just fine, but the scale will not.
If I look at the syslog when it tries to connect I see the AC86U DHCPOFFER it an IP, but...

AX58U (AX3000) unable to update firmware in 386.1 beta unless factory default.

Hi Merlin, thanks for the great firmware.

i have an AX3000 using AX58U firmware, after 386.1 alpha 3, every upgrade of firmware i will need to factory default the AX3000, otherwise the flashing will just failed without any error. please refer to picture below, from beta 1 to beta 2, it show please wait, Applying Settings, and AX3000 will be reboot without any upgrade of firmware.

I have another AC68U and it upgraded correctly to beta2.

is there anyway that i can upgrade AX3000 without the...

Very noob question and I know the common answer is... "you can, but make sure to have them on different subnets".

What I am trying to accomplish is to remove double NAT. My ISP modem/router does not have the same features or options as my Asus router, therefore I want to use the Asus, but stay on the same network as the ISP...hence eliminate double NAT.
So, can I have my ISP modem hand out IPs from 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.3
and my Asus router 192.168.1.4 - 192.168.1.254?

First and foremost apologies if this has been discussed before. I tried to search within the forums but couldn't find a thread. My question deals with device icons displayed in the Web UI.
  1. How come the router is displaying some icons that are not available for manual selection? For example I have a Synology NAS, the router is displaying a Synology icon but I'm not seeing how I can select this icon for other devices.

I currently have this pointing to my own internal DNS servers on my home network, but these are handed out to clients using my own DHCP server, so I'm not entirely sure what setting the values below actually does. Thanks.

Thanks to the excellent advice I received on the SNB Forums, I purchased an RT-AC66U_B1 and have been very happy with it. I received it two days ago and the first thing I did was flash the latest Merlin release. Currently I'm trying to set up network drive access via Samba, and I'm running into a strange issue where the router is detectable by Windows, but cannot be accessed. My router named "Samba" is detectable in my local network, but this is the error I get when I try to access...

Hi! I would like to mount a two samba share from my WDLXTVLIVE. Because I have connected the WDLXTVLIVE to router to ethernet. To copy the data donloaded by transmission from router more stable than wifi.
