Hi Guys,

I'm desperate for some help here... details below,

Current Setup:
I've got an ISP router with modem mode and ASUS RT-AC86U(384.19) as full blown router for all my home networking activities like WiFi, LAN etc. I've also enabled DMZ from ISP router through to ASUS router so any external request from internet are handled by ASUS router rather ISP router. Todate, I've had no issues connecting NordVPN with ASUS router's VPN client using TCP 443 and everything works like...

Hello,

since a couple of months I'm running a AX88U with Merlin 384.19.
From time to time WAN connection is lost, this happens intermittent, sometimes after a couple of days, sometimes multiple within 24 hours.

In syslog always the same entry can be found

Dec 29 03:03:57 nat: apply redirect rules
Dec 29 03:04:03 WAN_Connection: Ethernet link down.

After restarting Internet connection via scmerlin or a reboot everything is working fine.

As I can't find the cause, any ideas what is...

I see this partition as:

RT-AX88U no internet

I've been working with the AX88U for almost a year, using the stock firmware. Experiencing some stability issues (disconnects from time to time) I decided to give the Merlin f/w a try.
Installed 384.19 today, and after the process was done, I could login to the router using the PC, saw that the internet connection is on (as shown on the main router's screen Internet Status and the LED), and tried to open some sites using the browser. I realized that there was no internet access from the PC...

For ~ 2 years, we've been using OpenVPN on our RT-AC88U with no issues. Recently, I updated from Merlin 384.17 to 384.19... at the same time, Apple pushed out a patch for MacOS Catalina... so it could be one, both, or neither... but now, about every minute (never more than 2 minutes), the connection gets dropped, and then the client reconnects. This happens with the OpenVPN client as well as TunnelBlick. This happens on three MacOS laptops... but does NOT happen to either of the two Windows...

Best Practice Setup Once Flash Latest Merlin Release on brand new router

Wondering if anyone has a best practices to get a router setup on Merlin. I had to send my RT-AC86U away and totally forgot all I had done. I have a fairly simple setup, but I have been debating to a few more add-ons such as that Skynet one.

I want to have a secure router as well as optimized for gaming, hence the FlexQoS. I also don't care about anything wireless. My 86u is a pure wired router with wifi disabled as I am using TP-link EAPs.

Here is a brief list, hoping others can chime...

Can't Login to GUI

I have been running into an intermittent problem on multiple Asus Routers, all running Asus Merlin Ver 384.17. About once every couple of weeks, the router gets into a state where I can no longer log in the the GUI interface. When I try to login, I get the username / password window, but then just a blank screen that eventually times out. Once this happens, I can't even get the logon screen.

While the router is in this state, it seems to still be fully functional. Data is still routed...

RT-N66U Bricked - No WIFI

Hi
I desperately need some help with recovering my Asus RT-N66U router. Due to some issues with my fiber connection, the ISP guys had to reset my router and eventually bricked it.
The power led and the Lan port 1 led stays on. The wifi led do not come on. I tried flashing the nvram using the WPS and power button, tried the 30,30,30 reset but nothing seem to work.
I even tried factory reset but somehow my old settings remained. I could see the wireless channel set at 0. And there is no option...

Regarding the script below the line that dugaduga wrote on another thread, would you have to change the ip (highlighted in bold below) 192.168.50.2 to your routers main ip (I use 192.168.1.1) ? for it to work?

I tried to message him direct, but conversations are off for him.

Also if I was to run this, would it stop the trend micro tracking, whilst still allowing AIProtect etc to still function?

Hi,

I have one dinosaur that running Merlin 376.44 from 2014 I think. (Wow !!! SIX years without touching anything, is not it amazing and unbelievable. Thanks to Merlin to make it happen !!!)
Recently I have found issues that 5G network disappears. It do coming back after restart.

Before retiring the HW I was thinking to add automatic reboot at night to minimize the problem.
I recall that in the latest Merlin releases there is reboot scheduler in Administration menu.

I am considering removing SFQ completely from the Traditional QoS implementation, and always using fq_codel. This would help simplify the webui, and also the QoS related code by making it closer to upstream.

I will probably keep the overhead settings there, tho I might consider removing them from the webui, and only keeping them available through direct nvram manipulation, as quite frankly the impact of tweaking these parameters is very minimal, and it causes more questions than it does...

Hi

I have been tearing my hair out on this one for days, both trying stuff and contacting my ISP for help. I have had for quite some time the normal setup:
  • Broadband Modem=>Wired Ethernet=>Router; Router=Wired Clients; Router=Wireless Clients
Recently it started dropping connections. The Router log showed a number of error messages related to the ISP as follows:

    WAN_Connection: ISP's DHCP did not function properly
The modem appears to work OK...

Apologies if this is not the right forum. I am running Merlin 384.19 on a AX88U (Aimesh Router) & AC86U (Aimesh Node).
I like to add another Aimesh node.

Is it possible for me to add the new Aimesh Node to the LAN port of existing Aimesh node instead ?
ie..

Aimesh-router (LAN) <- Aimesh-node (WAN)

Factory Default Reset requirement when upgrading AC88U

I have had my AC88U for over 2 years. When I first purchased I guess I updated to merlin firmware shortly after (so also more than 2 years). I successfully flashed to 380.7 just because it said I needed to, just in case, and then successfully flashed to 384.19. Router is up and running fine. In the instructions it says updating the AC88U from stock firmware to 384/NG will require a factory default reset due to the change in how admin passwords are stored. As I said, I upgraded to merlin...

Hello everyone,

I'm a long time basic user of alternative Merlin firmware for my Asus router and for the first time I have uploaded a beta firmware (361.1 beta2). My router is working but I'm not able anymore to access my router web page. I can see the login/password page but after entering correct items, the page remain blank, that means I can not change anything on my router anymore.
I have the asus android app too on my phone but when trying to access my router, I got the message "...

Upgraded my AC68U to a AX88U and generally very pleased. I never ran the stock FW but installed the Merlin Beta 1 right away as I have been running Merlin on the AC68U since I bought that several years ago, so I cannot reference if these issues are present on the ASUS FW or not. Sorry.

Wireless clients generally work just fine. Have no issues that I can think of actually but wired is another matter. First thing I noticed was that one LAN port indicated “Unplugged” in the UI when it is...

Does QoS - WAN/LAN bandwidth page not work correctly if QOS itself is not enabled on the second tab? Under the http://192.168.1.1/AdaptiveQoS_Bandwidth_Monitor.asp page? I tried setting my PC to have the highest bandwidth and others as the lowest however it seems that there is no real priority given by the looks of it.
