I know a few fancy networking words, but in general i am pretty inexperienced, so you guys might have to explain your solutions more thoroughly to me.
I have gigabit fiber coming to my house, and fully wired it ALWAYS gives me near full speed.
But i have noticed a problem. Ive got an asus aimesh system (2 AC66U B1, 1 AC68U). It was perfect for a week or so (max speed around 450mbps). Then its started to slow down to 250mbps on the wifi even on modern devices (i know cry me a river).

IPv6 filters work fine. When trying to enter an IPv4 destination address you get the following error every time, no matter what IPv4 address, whether you use a mask, or even if IPv6 firewall is disabled. So it seems likely to be a UI input validation error

I have had my AC88U for over 2 years. When I first purchased I guess I updated to merlin firmware shortly after (so also more than 2 years). I successfully flashed to 380.7 just because it said I needed to, just in case, and then successfully flashed to 384.19. Router is up and running fine. In the instructions it says updating the AC88U from stock firmware to 384/NG will require a factory default reset due to the change in how admin passwords are stored. I have been running into an intermittent problem on multiple Asus Routers, all running Asus Merlin Ver 384.17. About once every couple of weeks, the router gets into a state where I can no longer log in the the GUI interface. When I try to login, I get the username / password window, but then just a blank screen that eventually times out. Once this happens, I can't even get the logon screen.
While the router is in this state, it seems to still be fully functional. Data is still routed...

Most router upgrades instruct that resetting the router is either required or strongly encouraged. While I can understand why from a code prospective, I don't want to do this from an end user prospective mainly because there are hundreds of settings that I don't want to type manually again and again every few months. I mostly take a chance on dirty upgrades and so far they have worked but I am afraid a day will come when it doesn't work. So, is a tool like nsrum the easiest option that...

I have been having recurring issues with my 2018 MacBook Air disconnecting from wifi, sometimes several times in a just a few minutes. Nothing I can do on the client will enable it to stay connected, yet other times it will work fine. It's only my MacBook, I have about 25 other devices that seem to do fine otherwise (and yes it doesn't happen on other networks so it's probably not a hardware issue with my laptop).
My setup is a RT-AC86U running 384.16, and a my old AC68U that is an AiMesh...

Does QoS - WAN/LAN bandwidth page not work correctly if QOS itself is not enabled on the second tab? Under the
http://192.168.1.1/AdaptiveQoS_Bandwidth_Monitor.asp page? I tried setting my PC to have the highest bandwidth and others as the lowest however it seems that there is no real priority given by the looks of it.

Hi Guys,
after reading here all the cool things you can do with merlin I decided to bite the bullet and got myself an Asus AC86U. I received it a couple of days ago and I'm trying to setup multiple VPNs and have different devices connecting to different VPNs.
I managed to set up the VPNs but I'm having issues with the mapping.
I'm connected to the VPNs correctly.
I've setup each VPN in a pretty similar way, here's an example...

Radios on my first router stopped working within hours of setting it up and I suspected it due to high temperature (CPU was at 96°C). I'm just trying to configure the dual wan options, not for load balancing or failover, I just one device to use the secondary wan interface. Everything else I'd like route thru the primary wan interface.
All devices are on the same subnet. Now, I can get my one device to reliably route thru secondary wan, but other devices are routing out thru either one..
I can't write rules for every device on the network, and everything else I've tried does not route this one device over secondary wan...

I have two routers RT-AC86U as a primary router and an RT-AC68U as an AP. The 86U is in the front of the house, the 68U in the back. Admittedly, there is some overlap in signal. Roaming assist is disabled on the 86U and set to -65dbm on the 68U. The two routers are interconnected via Cat 5 cabling. Hi I have RT-68P on the latest Merlin firmware 384.19
I currently have a few scripts that forces SafeSearch in Google and Bing which work great...
For Google I am using this

So here is the case.
AX88U as main router in living room with 384.19 F/W, all good. AC86U (same firmware) in bedroom as an AiMesh node connected via wireless to the AX88U, all good.
Thought I'd run an ethernet cable from the AC86U to a Raspberry Pi 4 I have in bedroom, and it works, but it's dreadfully slow? Web pages load occasionally, mostly not all all. It's actually worse than the Pi's built in wifi, and that's saying something. I thought this would be a tad faster doing it this...

I am new to ASUS router/Meilin and just bought 2 AX86U for the aimesh. Some questions I like to ask for advice:
My internet is 120/10. The house is old one with about 3000 square feet-2 stories and basement.
1. Shall I wait for the stable Meilin firmware for AX86U or can start using the Beta 2 version? Any risks and what it is the benefit? If I load the beta Meilin, shall I load only to the main router or should do both as I use 1 as node.

Just updated from DD-WRT to AsusWRT-Merlin on my Asus AC3100 and needed a way to setup Multi-SSID with VLANs. I found a script on github, forked it, modified it, tested it and bingo it works. So, thought I would post it here in case others found it useful (& in case I made any mistakes, newbie after all). This was built for the AC3100 but I added instructions to show how to modify it for other models.

I have a wifi scale (Weight Gurus model 0396, 2.4 GHz only) that worked fine for years with my AC66U_B1 when it was my primary router.
I just switched to using a new AC86U as the primary router, same SSIDs/passwords/etc, running Merlin 384.19 and AiMesh, and now use the AC66U_B1 as an AiMesh node (ethernet backhaul).
ALL the rest of my ~50 devices connect to the AC86U just fine, but the scale will not.
If I look at the syslog when it tries to connect I see the AC86U DHCPOFFER it an IP, but...

I'm running an ASUS RT-AC88u Router with Merlin 384.15.
I have configured it on the WAN page not to get DNS server automatically and have configured my VPN providers DNS Servers.
My IPSs DNS server appears to be 89.187.1620/24, (datacamp), which is apparently a skills company based in Singapore?
When I go to dnsleaktest.com or ipleak.com and when connected to my VPN I am still seeing the ISP DNS server
So I configured my NIC with the VPN DNS Servers.
Rebooted router, rebooted PC and tested...

My DSL-AC68U running 384.17_0-gnuton1/atmt (packages below) periodically disconnects from broadband. I recently started using the amtm reboot scheduler and this happened this morning when the router was automatically restarted to the schedule.
