Script disappeared

Today I was troubleshooting a problem on my RT-AC68P with v384.15 and I discovered that my 'services-start' script was missing. I looked back at my backups and it appears that it went away sometime within the last year. I was using 'services-start' to execute a python script that checked on reboot to make sure I got a good external IP address from my AT&T gateway device.

I see that some new scripts were added, e.g, 'service-event'.

I have installed Skynet and diversion, both of which...

[DSL-AC68U] AsusWrt Merlin builds for DSL routers

Hi there,
This thread is about GNUton's Merlin builds for DSL devices.

* A few words about how this project started:
Some days back I bought a DSL-AC68U. I got a used one for 40 euros. As far as I know, this devices is pretty much as an RT-AC68U but it sells cheaper because... maybe... there is no custom firmware for it, so people think they are worse.
Then I decided to make an experiment, let's see how much the price of these devices will be once people will know that there are Asus...

DNS Filtering parameters w/ DoT ?

RT-AC86U 384.16, RT-AC68U Aimesh node w/ 384.16, Diversion, UiDivstats, Skynet, AiProtection, Scribe, UiScribe, Conmon, SpdMerlin, scMerlin, Nsrum, OpenVPN.

Can someone verify if I have this set correctly? I tried following a cook book recipe, but may have been reading the wrong page. I've had DoT enabled for a while, but enabled DNS filtering yesterday, and now I have a different message on that router CUI page. Should the DNS filtering switch even be on? Thanks in advance....

Significant degradation in USB performance

I have my RT-AC1900P doubling as a NAS by the use of a USB connected SSD. Since the last couple of firmware updates for the router, I notice the throughput has significantly degraded. I was able to get ~30 MBps read and write speeds. But now write speeds are about 7-8 MBps. But read speeds are truly terrible at 0.13 MBps.

This is measured connected via ethernet cable. I am currently running firmware 384.16. I have tried different hard drives. same issue. Also tried ext3, ext4, NTFS...

VPN CLIENT - QOS Upload Bandwidth limiter BROKEN when VPN Client enabled

I use QOS - bandwidth limiter for certain devices to cap download and upload.

It caps download perfectly for devices listed however the upload cap does not work what so ever.

Any reason why?

Using 2 x ac86u and 1 x ac68u in ai mesh mode with one of the 86u's as the main router.

VPN routing how to exclude specific ports

I want to be able to exclude specific ports from VPN. So in general everything uses VPN except for specific ports for apps that do not work with VPN.

Example is a Java App that I use port 2002 for. I tried to do a port forward but when I am using VPN Client port forward does not work with the client.

How can I exclude a specific port like this to use WAN and not the VPN?

DNSPrivacy with strict VPN

Normally all my traffic including DNS routes through my VPN (exclusive). If I enable DNS over TLS in Merlin, will the DNSPrivacy traffic still travel through the VPN? In other words, will the DNSPrivacy resolvers see my IP or the VPNs?

Hello,

I have followed the instructions here : https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin.ng/wiki/Policy-based-Port-routing-(manual-method)

Here is my nat-start

Code:

AC56U - No Bandwidth Monitoring

Hi everyone, total n00b here! I just installed 384.6 and it went swimmingly. Unfortunately I'm not getting any readings under Adaptive QoS > WAN/LAN Bandwidth Monitor or Web History. This was my main reason for tinkering in the first place, as there are devices on my network that are totally saturating the bandwidth and I'm trying to figure it out.

Devices are showing up and getting IP through DHCP on the AC56U, but nothing in the monitoring section.

Any ideas?

AC86U: Comments setting up Traditional QoS

I have had very erratic results setting up Traditional QoS and I would like to ask for comments.

- The default priority seems to be "Low". That is unexpected, I had assumed it would be "Medium". This is not described anywhere in the web interface and knowing that would've saved me a lot of time.

- I don't understand why there's an option to set a % limit of bandwidth for each category. Aren't priorities enough?

- Even after setting a certain category to, say, 90% of my download bandwidth...

Enable RDP - trying to get incoming IP address

Hi there.
I have an ASUS RT-AC66U_B1 router with Asuswrt-Merlin.
First of all, thanks for that wonderfull firmware! It is so stable and has so many bells and whistles, and on top, it's allowed from ASUS! That is so fantastic!

Background info:
I have a working setup already - I can connect through RDP from my work office to a specific computer on my LAN. For this, I've enabled Virtual Port forwarding for a specific IP that I've been given by one of the sys admins at work, to my specific...

RT-AX88U - Web Access from WAN

Hi good people.

I have a Asus AX88U and I wanted to enable Web access from WAN. I do it, and after a while it is turned off.
I have skynet installed as well.

Firmware: 384.16

Certificate is set up with https.

Assigning client names

I did search for this but couldn't find it anywhere obvious.

I see two places where clients have a name or can have one assigned:

1) Under "Network Map" "View List" there is a "Client's Name" which can be changed
2) Under "LAN" "DHCP Server" under the Icon at the left is a "Name" which can be changed but also a "Device" which cannot and which has not relevance, e.g. my Windows Server is an Android Device for some reason.
3) When entering a manual/static IP address in DHCP the "Host Name"...

This is an LTS (Long Term Service) fork of Asuswrt-Merlin based on 374.43_2. This older code base has a history of being very stable, and some of the older code components may perform better in some environments. Yesterday was Asuswrt-Merlin's 8th anniversary. The first release was on April 5th 2012.

I don't even remember what was in that release, since the changelog just says "initial release", with the April 15th release adding the WOL page (which is also the first feature I actually remember working on).
