Hi All,

I just loaded Asus Merlin fimrware and love it!

I wanted to set up a specific routing rule and am confused on how to do it on the UI.

I basically wanted to set a specific internal IP(item on my network) (static) 192.168.2.26 (for example) to block all traffic outgoing ingoing to it.

Then allow only certain websites to access (siteexample.com) that device and not allow other sites and route the traffic on top of that through a VPN Server(NordVPN) ( which i setup on the VPN setting...

Best router for experimenting with Merlin FW?

I have a Netgear R7800 in production right now, running Voxel's FW. It works great but I forgot how stripped the NG firmware is and I'm wanting to experiment with Merlin to see if it fits my needs better.

Here are my requirements:

1) Feature and performance parity with R7800 as best as possible (realizing the R7800 is a workhorse).
2) Don't need 8 or 10 ethernet ports. I only actually use 1 on the router itself.
3) Don't need a whole bunch of USB ports.
4) Don't need AX or AD or anything...

Best router for experimenting with Merlin FW?

AX88 - RAM Usage - how much is normal?

So I have a AX88, however it uses 729 MB of RAM after reboot - is this normal? I think something eats something or something?

I try to connect to a VPN by a router and must be L2TP/IPSec client any suggestions?
Or any model to suggest or other brands. I need possible a cheap one, but could work stable.
Of course I prefer ASUS models as I use many years.

CPU at 100%

The display on the web interface is showing that Core 1 is running at 100% so I SSH'd on and ran the top command, pressed 1 to show the two cores and now I'm confused as the total CPU is just over 1%.

I can see that the nice and idle values are however showing a different story. From what I can see top, ps etc within the busybox image provided don't have the ability to show ni values against tasks so is there are way to show them? If I re-boot the router (AC3200) then the core drops back...

SOLVED: cannot reset RT-N66U

I have a RT-N66U and wanted to upload a new firmware but I failed...
I uploaded it with the GUI and after the upload was successful (100%) I got the message to restart the router manually.
So I pushed the power button but the router got stuck....

Unfortunately I cannot even reset the router, what can I do now?

I tried to reset as follows:
1) RT powered on > press the reset button more than 10 sec, 20 sec, 30sec
2) RT powered off > press the reset button > RT powered on > waited 10...

So to solve all the problems with installing dnscrypt with entware (or similar) then setting up various scripts to handle dnscrypt-proxy starting up including the ntp issue, I made my own installer for dnscrypt-proxy.

Requirements:
- ARM or MIPSEL based ASUS routers
- asuswrt-merlin firmwares or compatible
- jffs support and script enabled

Hello all

Wondering if someone can shed some light on what these are and if there is any resolution to these appearing in the log. Its been mentioned on here a couple of times but I can't see a clear answer or resolution as to why this happens.

Besides my AC86U (384.9) consistently dropping/reconnecting 5Ghz clients (regardless of MIMO/Fairness/Beamforming settings) and the annoying WLAN Assoc/Disassoc messages flooding the syslog.

Running Merlin 384.13 on the Asus RT-AC88U router and DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 4 on the DiskStation.

I tried hardcoding both ports to 1000 Full and the Diskstation drops off the network.

If I use robocfg port 1 media 100FD then the port...

Asuswrt-Merlin 384.13 is now available for all supported models. The main change of this release is the addition of support for AiMesh (both router and nodes) for those models that are compatible (RT-AC87U and RT-AC3200 are not supported).

Update:: 384.13_1 for the RT-AC87U, which resolves AP mode for that model.


This release also includes a number of fixes. The highlights:

Hey

I setup my new RT-AC86U (previously used rt-68u), i got a media streaming box running over router vpn client 1, i've never used QoS before but know of some of it's problems, i don't want any complexity i just want to ensure i give priority to the streaming media box. Will it even work seeing vpn traffic is encrypted so won't know it's streaming?

First i went to Adaptive QoS > Bandwidth Monitor and dragged 'Highest' priority onto media box. Next went to Adaptive QoS > QoS. Where it says...

Killer wi-fi only sees one 5GHz SSID

Hello,
I have an RT Ac5300 with the latest Merlin WRT firmware. I have separate SSIDs (1 x 2.4 and
2 x 5) but neither my Windows laptop or Windows desktop can see one of the 5GHz networks.
I can see both on iPad, iPhone and a MacBook Air running Windows 10.
The desktop and laptop both have killer 1525 cards. I have tried searching for anything in this but no luck so far. had anyone come across this problem?

I have a Linksys LRT 214 router facing WAN and acting as a DHCP server for LAN (192.168.10.1).

A LAN port of an ASUS RT-AC68U (with Merlin’s Asuswrt v384.13) is connected to a LAN port of the Linksys router (Asus has static IP 192.168.10.7 / mask 255.255.255.0). The DHCP server on Asus is switched off. Asus is in the router mode and it is used as a WiFi access point for LAN. The firewall of Asus is turned off, WAN/NAT is not enabled.

WiFi works flawlessly and I can access Asus at...
