Parental Controls ignoring System Time after Daylight Saving changes

As per the title, daylight saving in the UK and the clocks went back an hour. System time on my RT-AC86U shows the correct time on the AiProtection - Time Scheduling page but the blocking is out by an hour.

e.g., it's currently 12:30pm, System Time show the correct time on the router.
Parental Control set to block between 12-13 doesn't work.
If I set it to block between 13-14 then it blocks.
So it's an hour out.

This has only been a problem since the clock went...

Latest router recommendation for high speed VPN

Hello,

I am currently running whole house VPN on my trusty AC86U and I get great speeds. I need to purchase another one for another house and would like to know what the best one is these days for VPN?

GT-AC2900?
RT-AX88U?
RT-AC88U?
Others?

Again, running whole router VPN with good speed is key, which is why I run the AC86U. I assume all the other features I need would come with the regular Merlin firmware.

Hi everyone.

Can anyone give me simple step-by-step instructions how to set up a VPN on my ASUS RT-AX88U so that my son can access his files on my Synology Diskstation while he is away at university? He doesn't want to just be able to log in to the Diskstation GUI and access the files that way (which can easily be done using the Synology QuickConnect service) but rather through the normal file explorer on his Macbook Pro that can be used at home while connected to the internal...

I know that AiProtection doesnt have whitelist capabilities but im having some issues when trying to access a windows share from a remote client connected to the routers openvpn server.

Is there a way to let the router accept this incoming connection?

Windows server is 10.0.0.7
Remote client is 10.0.1.2

So I finally updated firmware from legacy 380, and it seems like the OpenVPN server is "stuck" - it never starts running ("Initialinzing the settings of OpenVPN server now, please wait a few minutes to let the server to setup completed before VPN clients establish the connection"). I have a dumb question - I did do a factory default restore (both via the GUI and also trying the reset button on the router), I had expected that to wipe all settings, but I still have all my wireless settings,...

It's been well established that BBR is really fast when it comes to TCP / UDP congestion control - I can't be the only one who sees value in BBR - Can I request This Feature or documentation on enabling BBR and QUIC3 on Merlin - I'll beta test. As far as I see it's all in the sysctl.conf - can anyone confirm if it's that simple or if there's packages that need to be modded to make it happen. Since this is a project that takes much of ASUS's own code - I assume I need written permission to...

I still keep seeing these odd messages in my log. Everything seems to be working ok at the moment, but I hope it's not indicative of something wrong with the router. Of are these sort of messages fairly normal?

At another time, with the help of forum members, I wrote a post about installing the Unbound recursive DNS server on Merlin firmware. In all tests, this was the best way to incorporate unbound into Merlin firmware. It is compatible with adblock Diversion and Skynet. Thanks @SomeWhereOverTheRainBow @dave14305

How to set up DNS over TLS 384.13?

Thought I had this figured out in 384.11 but the changes I see in the change log for .12 and 13 and the discussion board have my head spinning.

Could someone be so kind as to please itemize the changes needed to the settings in 384.13 so that DNS-over-TLS is enabled properly in 384.13. Assume we are starting from scratch with the router just having been freshly factory reset. I was going to use cloudflare preset.

So to solve all the problems with installing dnscrypt with entware (or similar) then setting up various scripts to handle dnscrypt-proxy starting up including the ntp issue, I made my own installer for dnscrypt-proxy.

Requirements:
- ARM or MIPSEL based ASUS routers
- asuswrt-merlin firmwares or compatible
- jffs support and script enabled

Hi,

I've been using Asuswrt-Merlin for some time but have limited NAT knowledge. Having exhausted everything I could think of to fix this, it is time to admit defeat and reach out for help.

I've recently switched to a static WAN IP, and after configuring the firewalls NAT table as below, I've been unable to access the internal service on below port using the external public WAN IP:

[Question] Unusual CPU Usage

Hi,

I have recently reset my AC88U, reconfigure it from scratch.

It has 384.13, AMTM, Diversion, Skynet (logs disabled on Diversion and Skynet).
Also in the configuration it's only running 1 Guest WiFi, 1 OpenVPN server. No QoS, Traffic Analyzer, or something that might cause CPU usage...

What doesn't make sense is that before resetting the router, CPU usage was always low and stable, where I was running AMTM, Skynet, Diversion, FreshJr QoS, 1 WiFi Guest, Traffic Analyzer, 1 OpenVPN...

RT-AC66U mediabridge 5GHz not available

Hi
I am trying to setup my RT-AC66U in mediabridge mode. Unfortunately it does not connect over 5GHz band (2.4 GHz is fine). The GUI does not show up any 5GHz networks while scanning networks. Entering the 5GHz band manually doesn't work either.

Is this a hardware or a software limitation? I have asuswrt-merlin v. 380.70 installed on the device.

merlin+dnsmasq+ddns - can't seem to force resolve a public natted IP to the local subnet...

Good Morning everyone!

I am running an https service on one of my local subnet PC; I am also exposing this same service through merlin to the internet using port forwarding finally I am using DDNS to map my external IP to a proper dns name...
something like:
foo.bar.com -> via DDNS -> external public IP = 1.2.3.4
1.2.3.4 ->merlin which forward port 443 to LAN -> 192.168.0.10:4443

the problem is that I would like my local devices to be able to resolve directly...

merlin+dnsmasq+ddns - can't seem to force resolve a public natted IP to the local subnet...

IPv6 firewall fails to function.

RT-AC56R 384.6 (latest for this model at time of posting)
IPv6 firewall on/off switch seems to generate a complete blockage in the "on" position and had none of the rules entered in the GUI. In the "off" position it drops bad packets, but otherwise allows nearly everything through. Anyone have thoughts on this?
