RT-N66U won't connect to WAN after updating firmware

Hi guys ... I've had an RT-N66U on Merlin firmware for several years now and it worked fine. I think it was on 378.55. Yesterday I updated it firmware wirelessly to 380.70 (latest for RT-N66U), and since then I cannot get it to connect to my WAN. I have tried manually turning the power off on the N66U and turning it back on, factory resetting its settings, turning the firewall on the N66U off, etc .. Nothing working ... Oddly enough though, on the 'Network Map' page of the N66U, it DOES say:...

Hi there,
This thread is about GNUton's Merlin builds for DSL devices.

* A few words about how this project started:
Some days back I bought a DSL-AC68U. I got a used one for 40 euros. As far as I know, this devices is pretty much as an RT-AC68U but it sells cheaper because... maybe... there is no custom firmware for it, so people think they are worse.
Then I decided to make an experiment, let's see how much the price of these devices will be once people will know that there are Asus...

I upgraded from stock ASUS firmware to Merlin and an old DHCP bug I once had came back.
My ISP (RCN) gives me a 7 day DHCP lease. After 14 days of uptime (to the minute) I loose internet.
I have reverted my RT-AC1900P back to stock for now and it's gone.

I first had this happen with an old Linksys WRT310N on TWC. The option to renew would fail, but release and renew would work. I fixed it by upgrading to DD-WRT firmware.
Then I switched to RCN and it came back. I resolved it by flashing...

Is AiProtection not working on latest 384.11 Merlin's firmware???

Hi guys,

I have RT-AC3200 running latest (384.11) Merlin's firmware. What I've been noticing is that AiProtection doesn't report anything. I'd usually have a lot of IPS reports. but now everything is just 0 . It seems to me like it's not working. I did never withdraw sharing information with Trend Micro (Administration>Privacy).
Does anyone experience the same? Please share your thoughts. Anything would be helpful. How do I check if it's working? Is there a way of triggering it just to see...

Is AiProtection not working on latest 384.11 Merlin's firmware???

RT-AC86U no open ports - all ports forwarded on WAN access device

Hi!

My configuration:
WAN/Internet access Cisco EPC3928S router, NAT, all ports forwarded.
RT-AC86U with Merlin FW 384.11_2, connected to above Cisco on LAN port .

All devices on a local network can access Internet and can SSH to RT-AC86U or its WEB GUI.
For SSH I have my own key pair and connects from LAN. (password logon disabled)

But RT-AC86U is invisible from internet. Only ping works. SSH do not work, but in settings is "SSH access" "LAN and WAN"...

Starting this thread to see if there's any interest in hashing this out. I've kept IPV4 set to OFF on my Asus setup forever. Opening this thread based on this -> https://www.snbforums.com/threads/cloud9-dns.56918/page-7#post-497299

The biggest gotcha in even thinking about IPV6 is from this 2014 article -> https://major.io/2014/09/11/howto-time-warner-cable-ipv6/ (maybe there's newer) The other gotcha is I think each ISP can be slightly different.

I've installed Diversion and Skynet with amtm (thank you @thelonelycoder) and although the rubbish on pages is almost all gone, there's still some rubbish (imo) in Google's search results: Pinterest.

I know I can exclude it by adding:

-site:pinterest.com
to Google's query. But sometimes I'm using my mobile phone and it would be FANTASTIC if -site: pinterest.com could be added automatically to the query.

Can I achieve that with Diversion either/or Skynet? Or...

End of year 2017 development update

2017 in review

2017 is almost over already. The whole year has been a blur for me (in particular due to major changes in my professional life). This has been another interesting year for Asuswrt-Merlin, for multiple reasons. First of all, 2017 marked the 5th anniversary of this project. This milestone was reached last April, however I was too busy with other things at the time so I completely missed it. So here's a belated happy birthday to us!

Is it possible to create a guest wifi with LAN access off, and still forward a few devices (like Chromecasts) to be available both from the main Wifi network and the Guest network?

How would this be done?

Slow download speed on AC3100 behind AT&T U-Verse 5268AC modem

Here is the problem: I have 300 Mbps AT&T fiber connection
- If I used AT&T U-Verse 5268AC FXN modem's wireless, I got around 200 Mbps both download and upload (used dslreports.com/speedtest).
- If I put the U-Verse into bridge mode (link) and connected from one of its LAN ports to the WAN port on the AC3100, I only could get around 15-20Mbps download speed....

Hello!

Long story short: I bought a RT-AC5300, hoping to get full coverage in my home, and have gotten nothing but weeks of frustration in return.

I have a few Google homes, and a 3 chromecast devices around my home.

At this stage, I've spent many a night diggin through old forum threads looking for solutions, but haven't found any fixes for the lack of connectivity between devices.

To be clear: I always can "Cast to nearby chromecast" device, but otherwise it's 1 in 10 odds that any...

SAMBA Share and MAster Browser......

Just wondering, and I have not seen a recent answer about this.
Just to clarify, to have the router act as a Master Browser, the SAMBA share MUST be enabled?

Just curious as in my WIN10 machines SMB1 is disabled. The only thing that seems to use it is my NAS.
I wanted to have the router as Master browser but it seems not to work with share off.
Just want to know what others have seen?

Do you have a DSL AC68U? What s the temperature of your device? When in idle the CPU temperature is around 80C for me.

Hi

I’m a new Merlin user just moved from dd-wrt

On my old router (dd-wrt) i could connect to the router(Huawei 4g) behind my dd-wrt router . The one that provides the internet through wan on the dd-wrt router. This was done by typing 192.168.8.1 (default for Huawei routers) in a browser.

On Merlin firmware i can’t Seem to connect to the Huawei router?

I did try to turn the firewall of in Merlin with no luck.

As the Merlin interface is new for me, i have no clue which setting that needs...

Asuswrt-Merlin 384.11 is now available for all supported models. This is a fairly big update which brings a number of new features.

May 18th: 384.11_2 is now available, containing a couple of minor fixes.

Changes since 384.11:
