Hi All,

I have been following these forums for hints and tips etc... for sometime but have only just registered as I would like to contribute and be part of the community.

OpenVPN Question

I want to know how merlin got the dns to work automatically in the openconfig. I had a 86u, setting it up with the openvpn config files was super easy and you would get your ip and dns automatically served from your vpn provider without issues. In the pursuit of performance I switched to a custom box. I have tried both pfsense and untangle with expressvpn and cannot for the life of me get their dns to ever work, I get dns leaks per se. How did you do it?

Forwarding Port 443 to specific LAN-IP not working

Hi!
I'm trying to forward incoming traffic from WAN on Port 443 to my RaspberryPi server. However when trying to connect to https / port 443 through my domain name I always get "Connection refused".
I'm currently running Merlin 348.9 on a RT-AC88U.
I've set up the port forwarding of 443 to the LAN-IP of my RasPi.
On WAN I am on a static IPv4. My ISP is not blocking any access. Forwarding to a mailserver running on RasPi works fine. Forwarding port 80 to RasPi works, too. AICloud etc. are...

asuswrt merlin on a RT-AC1900p

I have downloaded the latest firmware RT-AC86U_384.9_0. I have tried to install this wireless via the gui and I get a firmware fail. I have tired the same way wired same result. I have change my ip address of the computer to 192.168.1.5. I have tried via the recovery software from Asus website. I did this both wireless and wired. It tries to upload and then says it was unsuccessful. I did a factory reset. I have soft reset the router every time I started this process. Any ideas. Is there...

They are all outdated.

[Solved] Decrease in throughput after overclock

I have a USB HDD connected to the USB3.0 port of my RT-AC68U. I am hitting about 12 MB/s write and 22 MB/s read. I read somewhere (can't recall, but likely this forum) that an overclock will increase the throughput and that the RT-AC68U is limited by its SoC and 256 MB RAM.

sudden LAN drop

Just now all the lan connections to my rt-ac68u gave up, couldn't even open the web gui. Used my phone to connect with router and everything looks normal. Granted I'm running 384.5 but plan to upgrade this weekend. First time I've experienced this, anyone else?

Hi,

I now live with this problem since I got my ASUS AC68U but today I thought I would try to ask for help and hope that one of you is able to identify a solution for it.

Setup:

ASUS AC68U
currently Merlin 384.9, I think my first version I started with was "RT-AC68U_3.0.0.4_374.43_2" 2014.
Running as Media Brdige connected to FritzBox 7490
2.4 GHZ disabled, only 5 GHz enabled on AC68U

Problem:

Everyday the connection to the Internet / FritzBox is lost,...

Setting mount options for USB drive filesystem

I would like to set mount options for USB drive filesystems.
I tried setting "usb_ext_opt" to "data=journal,discard" according to the snippet of rc/usb.c below but it did not take effect and the nvram variable is now empty.
Does anyone know the sprintf syntax below? Perhaps I have it wrong.

Asuswrt-Merlin 384.9 is now available for all supported models. The focus of this release was merging newer GPLs, and implementing the new connection tracking report.

The highlights:

Hello-

Bought an AC86U and am going through setup. Been using an older AC68P and tomato and am used to entering a bunch of static dhcp addresses through the Tools-->System Commands window using 'nvram set dhcpd_static=blah blah blah, etc' because it's so much faster than doing them individually through the Basic-->Static DHCP section of the GUI.

After some searching the forum it's my understanding I need to do it this way for Merlin:

-ssh into the router
-use 'nvram set...

So to solve all the problems with installing dnscrypt with entware (or similar) then setting up various scripts to handle dnscrypt-proxy starting up including the ntp issue, I made my own installer for dnscrypt-proxy.

Requirements:
- ARM or MIPSEL based ASUS routers
- asuswrt-merlin firmwares or compatible
- jffs support and script enabled

Incompatibilities:
- No known issue

Hi Everyone,

I have bought a RT-AX88u to replace a GT-AC5300, mainly due to be able to use Merlin firmware. I have found the below few issues and have had to back to the GT unit.

1- Any time the router is rebooted, the WAN port is stuck as 100Mb speed (this is found in both stock and Merlin). Once the cable is unplug/plug the port comes as 1Gb.
2-Movistar Triple VLAN is not available in the Merlin IPTV configuration but it is in stock.
3- With same wifi AC configuration, AX88u seems to...

AC86U dcd tainted on Merlin 384.8_2

I have been resisting the update to 384.9 due to the dcd crash being seen in it on the AC86U. But I just started seeing these crashes in my system log and I am on 384.8_2. So, are we really sure this is a new error in Asus'/Trend Micro code or is it something else external?

Constant disconnects...

Hi..
Ever since I flashed this firmware I have been having issues with a game called Apex Legends....
High ping, constant disconnects from the game servers

If I switch to the ISP router, I have no issues at all.
As soon as I switch back to Asus, immediate issues.

But, I only have issues with this particular game, not really issue with Internet browsing or getting disconnected from the Internet.

For some reason this game does not like this router/firmware... It doesn't matter if I connect...

Low NVRAM Asus RT-AC66U?

Hi!

I recently noticed that my Asus RT-AC66U running Merlin 380.70 (installed following the installation guide carefully) sometimes erased my port forwarding rules. After some searching this seems to be related to low NVRAM. I checked under Tools -> Sysinfo and this seems true for my router; I'm currently using 65404/65536 bytes.

The wifi is turned off (running Unifi AP). I have about ~40 clients connected to the router. ~50 entries in the DHCP list. 5-10 blocked URL:s in the URL filter....
