[HELP] Transmit power restriction for RT-N66U

Hello,

- just bought this awesome router

- RT-N66U updated to merlin firmware 3.0.0.4.266.23b

- bought and is using this router in Singapore (APAC)

- default transmit power 80mw

- want to attain max transmit power 500mw

- but max transmit power 200mw:

"Set the capability for transmission power. The maximum value is 200mW and the real transmission power will be dynamically adjusted to meet regional regulations"

- tried to change the timezone of the router, doesn't work.

- doesn't...

In my new AC88U I have the following port link state for the lan:

Port Link State
LAN 8 (RTL) Down
LAN 7 (RTL) 1000 Mbps
LAN 6 (RTL) 100 Mbps
LAN 5 (RTL) 100 Mbps
LAN 4 100 Full Duplex
LAN 3 Down
LAN 2 1000 Full Duplex
LAN 1 1000 Full Duplex
WAN 100 Full Duplex

What is the (RTL) after the lan port from 5 to 8?
They are not gigabit ports?

Double NAT can be used for DDNS! Why not by a Router?

False commonn knowledge says that a Router behind double NAT can not be used for automatic DDNS. My Asus Router claims so at the DDNS config page. My modem is 192.168.0.1 and assigns via DHCP 192.168.0.100 to my router. My Router is 192.168.1.1 therefore sees WAN address as 192.168.0.100 (instead of atual public WAN address). Therefore, it can not be used maintain my DDNS address. That is the fact.

Here is another fact. My server (NAS) also made by Asus, has DDNS function. NAS is connected...

Double NAT can be used for DDNS! Why not by a Router?

Asus RT-AC56U: USB Traffic Monitoring bug kills router

Curent Merlin fw RT-AC56U_380.57_0. Never used any other fw on this router.

I have had great problems with utilising USB stick to save Traffic Monitoring data. After killing my router 4-5 times, I am certaing this must be a bug.

1. I was trying to save Traffic Monitoring data to disk. I connected USB 2.0 32 GB stick (normally, it works perfectly)

Stick would often dissapear after few seconds or would not even be recognized. I would move it a bit or remove it and connect it again. On USB 2...

Need help setting up freedns.afraid.org custom DDNS

I just bought a RT-AC68P and have installed Asuswrt-Merlin 380.57 and have been trying to get everything configured today. I am coming from Shibby Tomato and have always been able to update my freedns.afriad.org DDNS account right from my router, so I wanted to do the same with Asuswrt-Merlin.

I've found the right documentation concerning setting this up, and I followed the directions the best I knew how, but it's not...

ebtables, ARP, and wirleess guest network

I'm running Asuswrt-Merlin 380.57 and I want to allow users in the wireless guest network (wl0.1), which is not allowed access to the intranet, to access the DNS server on the intranet. It appears that segregation of the wireless guest network is done by ebtables rules:

Bridge chain: FORWARD, entries: 2, policy: ACCEPT
-i wl0.1 -j DROP
-o wl0.1 -j DROP

Therefore, I tried adding ebtables ALLOW rules at the top of the FORWARD chain of the filter table to allow traffic...

I just purchased my first Asus router (RT-AC66U) and I am really enjoying your Merlin firmware. Thank you for creating. I searched the forum but couldn't find anything regarding QoS settings not showing after applied - so I am leaning towards I may have something corrupted in NVRAM. I am using QOS type as "traditional qos" and the "Bandwidth Setting" I am using is "manual". I input my ISP bandwidth and apply. When I leave the page and come back, the settings are not shown unless I...

I managed to get link aggregation working with the 68u router model and wanted to share my method in this how-to guide.

- Firmware: Asuswrt-Merlin 376.47 with JFFS enabed

If I buy the RT-AC68U can I restore the config backup settings from the 66?

Port forwarding - can't access local port forwarded services with external address from within LAN

I have been configuring my new router today with Asuswrt Merlin and have run across another issue (likely self inflicted).

I have gone through and forwarded all my ports as I had them forwarded on my last router running Shibby Tomato.

If I want to access a service from within my LAN I can do it successfully with the local IP address and port. IE https://192.168.1.20:9012 will get me there.

If I want to access that same service using my domain name from within my LAN, IE...

A little help setting up ftp access on Merlin?

Running RT-N66U successfully for a while and I want to upload the nvram-save files for use. I'm using port forwarding on port 21 to one of my servers so I've set the router ftp port to 2021. Accessing by IP:port didn't work so I setup a port fwd/trigger for same. Still no luck.

So could someone please advise what must be set to allow access to this port? I should be able to figure this out but the brain is getting rusty.

380.57 & SIP problems

I have Merlin installed on an Asus RT-AC87U that serves my business. The Merlin firmware has been rock solid across many, many versions.

Two days ago I installed 380.57, which then killed the office VOIP service. We use cloud based PBX solution called Onsip. I also have a couple of phones registered with VOIP.MS for testing purposes and for backup in case of onsip itself going down. Onsip is rock-solid and a great solution.

Under 380.57, the onsip phones could not register with onsip....

OpenVPN unrevoke

Hi,

i am relatively new to Merlin but i would thank you in advance for your work!

I am in need to unrevoke a OpenVPN certificate. I added a certificate to revoke in the webgui under "Certificate Revocation List (Optional)" - it works like a charm ;)

But now i am in need to unrevoke a certificate. How do i do that?

I connected via SSH to the router and searched for the normal index.txt but i could not find it anywhere.

In the latest update we got:

"NEW: OpenVPN policy routing. You can select client IPs or destination IPs which you want to route through your VPN tunnel. You can enter a single IP (192.168.0.1) or a whole subnet in CIDR format (for example 74.125.226.112/30). You can optionally block WAN access to these as well when the tunnel goes down."

Guest wifi network - manage devices from the LAN

Hi,

I build a guest wifi network just for IP cameras. My idea is to add the cameras to the Parental control and block the trafic to internet. This works fine at the moment. The other desire is block the access from this guest network to the LAN. Works perfect aswell. The problem happens when I need to manage the GUI interface at the port 80 from my LAN. If I try reach a camera from a laptop in my LAN, I can't access to the IP caamera GUI.

Any idea about how can I bypass the restriction...

Hi,

I have a bridged DSL-N14u with Asuswrt and as the main router a RT-N66u with Merlin.

I want give wifi coverage to one wifi SSID with both but...

- WDS is not an option because I can't use WPA2 with WDS.
- Two wifi with same SSID and roaming.

The las scenario is perfect for me but I can't see the wifi clients in the main router if them are connected to the SSID served from my AP/modem.

Any way to see from my router all the clients in my wifi/wired LAN?

378.55 UPnP Port Forwarding

I'm not having a lot of luck with the latest Merlin builds and UPnP. My Xbox One keeps getting a Moderate or Strict NAT on build 378.55 and 380.57 and when I check the UPnP port table it's empty. The Xbox One isn't in it and nor are the two PS4s.

I'm not a fan of the DMZ and can't use port forwarding, because of the multiple devices requiring the ports. I haven't experienced this issue on older firmware versions to this extent where I can't get it working. I'm guessing something has changed...
