Hi there,
recently, I bought a WD MY BOOK 4 TB external hard drive and plug it into my AC56U's (runs Merlin 376.45) USB 3.0. It works well, but after the disk health scan, I got the message like this:

Failed to calloc 122093248 bytes: Cannot allocate memory
Checking cluster allocation ...
ERROR(12): Failed to setup allocation bitmap: Cannot allocate memory

Does anyone know why it happens and how to fix it?
Or do I need to return the hard drive?

I am unable to connect my streaming media service devices and my VOIP telephone to the internet. The problem arises only with Asus and Asus-Merlin firmware.

I'm running an Asus RT-AC68R router. I uploaded Asus-Merlin RT-AC68U_380.57_0 and installed it successfully. I encountered a problem in configuring the router. I have a PPPoE account with my ISP. I have a single static IP for my network. Because I have only one static IP, my WAN IP address and my Gateway address are the same....

I was trying to run a long command and it got cut off in the middle. It looks like asuswrt-merlin has a ARG_MAX of 1024. Is it possible to make it larger? On Ubuntu 15.10 I get

$ getconf ARG_MAX
2097152​

There is no getconf on the router tho.

If I set 'Redirect Internet traffic' to No, all my devices are connecting through the VPN.
As expected, when set to All Traffic, traffic also uses the VPN connection.
Only when set to Policy Rules do my clients revert back to my ISP.
Am I missing the meaning of this setting?

Hi,

I have a rt-ac5300 in wireless router mode and using a rt-ac66u in repeater mode bothing using the merlin 380.57 firmware. But the rt-ac66u seems to be rebooting about every 2-3 minutes in while repeater mode. Everything connects successfully to the default router and I'm able to gain internet access using the ssids setup on the rt-ac66u though the connected clients, its just everything 2-3 minutes the router reboots and i just canr figure out why. Hello,

I have several Routers and put 8GB USB sticks in them to load Optware etc. I notice when I reboot the router that many time I end up with an error saying one or more folders did not dismount cleanly and it won't mount properly. Any suggestions on how to make sure my USB stick stays mounted properly even if the router is power cycled?

I would like to run a few commands at startup, it is ok if this is after all the services are up. I have tried to look for instructions or examples but it is not clear to me yet. I am running 380.57 on RT-AC3200.

The commands I want to run at startup:
ifconfig ethX txqueuelen XXXX
wl -i ethX txpwr1 -d XX

I would really appreciate any help.

I have a RT-AC68U with a RT-N66U attached to it by ethernet being used as an access point. The client list on the AC68U, despite it being the main router and the one assigning IP addresses to the N66U's clients, doesn't show the wireless clients that are connected to the N66U access point.

Earlier, I was using a cheapo Netgear router as an AP, and the AC68U was able to display its wireless clients under the "Wired" interface along with the Netgear router itself. But with Asus's own AP......

Has anyone tried it? Looks like I'd turn on PPS (pulse per second) in the Asuswrt-Merlin firmware and make a USB-to-Serial cable to connect the GPS receiver to my router.

Hi I have a AC87u and have a problem with the latest versions when I connect a wifi device to the router it shows up fine in the client list but when I conact it threw the AP that is wired into the router port it does not show anymore in the list, I can ping the device and see it on the network but it does not show in the client list, this only happens with wifi devices, I then flashed the router with the oldest firmware and it worked fine clients shows up fine then I reinstalled the lates...

I would appreciate any help.

Running 380.57_0 on RT-AC3200.

My configuration is :

2 x AP's running DD-WRT connected to a TP-Link swicth and switch connected to the RT-AC3200 which is connected to internet. The RT-AC3200 is the only DHCP Server in my network.

The problem is that a couple of devices that never show up on the Bandwidth Monitor page (Adaptive QoS page ....AdaptiveQoS_Bandwidth_Monitor.asp) while they are connected to the AP's via WiFi. everything works fines for these 2...

As the title says. When I go to daily traffic in 'QoS - Traffic Monitor' every day is reporting almost exactly the same data in Reception and Transmission.

Doing some digging around the cause for this is said to be NAT acceleration. Thing is acceleration is off.
It says: NAT Acceleration/Disable/NAT traffic is processed by CPU.

Any idea what else might be causing this issue?

Hey everyone,

I'm currently using my AC-RT3200 in Dual WAN mode with failover (ISP1 is much faster, 250 Mbit/s, vs the 40 Mbit/s of ISP2, so I don't want load balancing).

Unfortunately, in failover mode you cannot set specific routes from the UI. So what I'm trying to achieve is to set a specific route to a certain destination from command-line (because I work for ISP2 and I'd like to have all our business-related traffic go to ISP2 directly without taking the long route through ISP1).

Hi
I've read various online articles about how you can disable and enable USB ports from the command line in Linux.

Has anyone tried this on an AC68U ?

My CPU temp is around 83c I've plugged in a £5 USB fan and that reduced the temp to 58c.. So was wondering if it would be possible to write a script that ran via a crontab every 15 minutes and checked the CPU temp.

If its over 65 then enable the USB port the fan is in.
If its lower that 60 disable the USB port..

So turning the fan on...

Hi, I'm new to using the Merlin firmware, but I've read a lot of good things about it so I thought I'd give it a try. I flashed the new firmware and cleared NVRAM and reset to factory default before making any configuration changes.

Something I noted was that when you first turn on the router, either from a reboot or a powerdown, the CPU usage for core 1 goes through the roof. It will stay there going up and down between generally 90%-100% usage while core 2 is mostly sitting idle.
