How to configure firewall to allow Windows Remote Assistance through?

I'm clearly being stupid, but I don't get the "Black List/White List" thing in the Firewall configuration screen.

What I want to do is to allow Windows Remote Assistance connections through the firewall which I think involves allowing port 3389 through.

How should I configure this please?

Hello,
I tried to configure my router with my IFTTT account.
I have enabled and configured the DDNS and remote access and this part is functional.

When I enter the activation code, I always have a failure message. Who of you know the trick or made it functional?

Hey guys,

First post here (done plenty of reading -- hopefully enough). Around 2 weeks ago I replaced my older RT-AC1900/AC68U router with a new AC2900/RT-AC86U router and immediately flashed the latest stock firmware followed by Merlin's latest (384.4_2). The behavior I encountered was rather bizarre: after some arbitrary amount of time, the 2.4 GHz radio would stop broadcasting, and all clients would disconnect. Occasionally it would come back, but thereafter, no intranetwork...

Any known issues regarding AC2900/RT-AC86U 2.4 GHz radio malfunction?

Hello,

I try to put a subnet router behind the merlin driven router and give it ipv6 a subnet by prefix delegation so it can provide these to his LAN.

This is what I want to achieve:
Asus MerlinWRT Router Global ip6: 2B00::a::1 global prefix by ISP /59
Sub Router WAN to MerlinWRT Router LAN: 2B00::A::2 with Prefix /59
Sub Router LAN: 2B00::B::1 /62 or /64
Client in Subnet LAN: 2B00::B::2 /64

As far as I can read the communication with Wireshark, the subnet router is asking for IA_PD...

Hello all,

probably a weird request, but I could have sworn I found a script like this online and then lost and couldn't find it again.

Basically I want to have two internal IP addresses on my AC87U so that the normal one routes traffic from devices using it as their gateway IP will be routed to the internet as usual. (192.168.1.1 by default)

The Second IPI'd like to have it also handling NAT etc, but all traffic from devices using this one as their gateway IP would be routed though the...

FreshJr Install Question - Which File?

I have a newbie question. I want to install FreshJR on my new AC3100 to give my Ooma a fighting chance when using Backblaze.

With the AC3100 running the Merlin Firmware I think I can run the fast version. I see there are two fast files:

freshjr_qos_f384-txt.12403
freshjr_qos_faketc_f384-txt.12374/

Which one of these files should I install? Are the latest files attached to the first release post?

If I understand it correctly, the compatible version waits 5 minutes after QOS is active...

iptables cannot control gaming traffic ?

I had used R6250 with tomato,when I want to play PS4 GTAOL alone， just type :
"iptables -t mangle -I PREROUTING -s 192.168.1.15 -j DROP"
all packets from PS4 dropped,and delete this rule after 15s.
but now I'm using AC86U with merlin 384.5beta1,after typed this rule,PSstore and Explorer doesn't work,it's correct,but GTAOL still possible to transfer packets.
Why iptables cannot control the gaming traffic?

100% cpu usage on core 1 of AC88U

Hello,

I've been using the Merlin firmware for my router for quite a while now, and just today I noticed that core 1 on my Asus AC88U is pegged at 100% all of the time, and restarting the router does not solve the issue. This must have started in the last week, because I updated to the newest firmware about a week ago, and the router was not having this issue.

Is there a way to see what is using the processor in the router (similar to task manager)? The only thing I've done recently was...

Since getting 384.4_2 I have been having massive issues with youtube and buffering. After hopping it would go away, pulling my hair out checking the settings, initializing the router and I contacted the ISP, they suggested fo course bypassing the router directly to my PC and lo and behold no more issues, so I went back to the latest stock and its functional at the moment 384.20648. Now the router at work is the same and also had Merlin and also has this youtube problem, so I think there is...

I have read numerous postings saying that the Asus QOS doesn't work in a meaningful way. I currently have a RT 66U_B1.

For general use, router is fine with good range, but my issue is I use voip and can also have multiple cloud backups going at anytime. Regardless of any settings I make in the QOS, adaptive or traditional, anytime one of the cloud backups kick in, voip goes down the toilet. Incoming voip traffic fine, Outgoing voip is spotty to bad. Limiting the voip upstream in the cloud...

RT-AC86U VPN problems

I've been fighting with this today for the past 2 hours, I have VPN at the router level, it's been great until a few hours ago then now I'm getting no connection. I've tried several different servers, worked for a bit but now no servers will work at all. I've gone as far as resetting to defaults and uploading new firmware, the new beta 2 384.5, still nothing. I just don't understand what is happening here, is this thing dying?

QOS WAN Packet Overhead Setting (AC3200 w/ fw: 384.4_2)

Hi,

When setting my Adaptive QOS settings, I choose the Cable (DOCSIS) setting from the WAN Packet Overhead presets, but after hitting Apply that field reverts back to Select Preset. The setting won't stick.

Any thoughts?

Also, what's the ATM tickbox on the WAN Packet Overhead setting?

I just had flashed my RT-AC86U, configured everything, VPN is working then it logged me out due to inactivity. Now I can't get back in with the proper creds, wth do I do? Any help is appreciated asap, thanks.

Update: I just tried again and now I'm magically in, what can be happening here? I clear cache etc. and wouldn't let me in but now I'm in finally.

New RT-AC86U owner VPN Client tab issue

Hello all.
Thanks to all that recommended the RT-AC86U as a fix to VPN speed issues. Very fast. I seem to be getting "full speed" (85-90Mbps) which seems odd. I know I can check my IP (and I have) - I just seems oddly fast.

I seem to have an issue when selecting the VPN option in the GUI. It takes about 30 seconds for the VPN status page to show the status. Worse is when I click on the VPN client tab - it takes over a minute for the page to show. Anyone else see this symtom?

I've had this drive for a few months now but never hooked it up to my router until now after upgrading from NT66U to my new AC86U. It's formatted in NTFS and plugged into the USB 3 slot of course and I have USB Application open and "Enable Share" is on, Samba Protocol is SMBv1+SMBv2 but unsure of the rest of the settings, and only want to use the drive on the local network only, any help is appreciated.

I have a recently acquired Asus RT-AC66U B1 router which seemed fine with the official Asus firmware installed. When using this same router with Merlin RT-AC68U firmware as instructed, it will not create a network share for a hard drive connected to either of its USB ports. I have enabled USB Application - Network Place (Samba) Share / Cloud Disk, but no shared drive appears on my LAN. I have tried this with and without the Allow guest login option enabled.
