Parental Controls not blocking on 384.3

Hi,

I have upgraded on the AC3200 to the new firmware and enjoying it. Thank you Merlin.

I have added my children's devices and set the various 'allow' slots on the time scheduling, however, some of the devices appear to maintain access after once the [allow] hourly slot has elapsed?! When the device turns off, it cannot get back online until the next allow window is open, but the point is the router will not 'kick off' the device once the time slot has elapsed. It never used to be like...

Hi there,

Before deleting this post, please read first!
I know now that flashing Asus-Merlin to non-Asus routers is "illegal", but I did not know this before logging into this forum. Like me, many owners of Tenda AC18 used Asus-Merlin to flash their routers and were happily using it. Unftoruanrelty we weren't aware of the "illegality" before flashing it.

It looks like the latest Asus-Merlin bricked a lot of Tendas and as I can see many users are resorting to this forum to find a solution....

is there any speed builtin testing tool in Merlin? I need strong evidences in my struggle with ISP.
Or my only choice is Entware and iperf?

Hi,
I have just upgraded to 384.3 and have noticed that the Network monitor doesn't show the second WAN connection anymore. Happy to look into the code if someone points me in the right direction.

While I'm on the subject even in the older versions the QoS screens always get upload/download the wrong way round for the second WAN connection. Maybe it needs a bit more time but the QoS screen doesn't seem to be working at all in the new version - Traffic Not Detected for each host and...

OpnSense w/ Merlin

Just a general question. I'm running OpnSense as my main router with Merlin on my ac5300 running just for wireless as an AP. Issue I have is when you run in AP mode, you lose features only available in router mode. Can anyone tell me if I can just run wireless router mode and turn off DHCP, and point to my main router will it cause issues as compared to running in AP mode?

Hi Merlin,
I want to check the performance of FULLMAC BCM4365 by using a SOFTMAC driver to bypass the internal firmware and gain flexibility of modifying the chip behaviour. Can you help me out from which step I should start?
I have login via SSH to the Router and first checked for the debug information from BCM4365 to Router AC86U Kernel. But I did not find clearly the Debug Info via doing this. Can you help me with the exact steps?

SIEM syslog analysis

Greetings,

As is expected, if I log dropped connections, I see lots of them.

Any suggestions for a simple, free SIEM/log analyzer? Ideally something that would summarize thing and show, for example, "200 SSH attempts from IP address, a.b.c.d in China... or something like that.

FTP on RT-AC68U

I have a RT-AC68U running Asus Merlin 380.57_0.

I am trying to port forward to allow an FTP Server hosted on my home server with a local IP of 192.168.1.4 to allow access to the outside world. Usually I would just go to the port forwarding part of the router and allow port 21 through the WAN. However, this will conflict with the native FTP server built into the router.

I do have a USB drive attached running a local NTFS share on my home network, but I don't want to give FTP access to that,...

Hi. It has been a few days since I flashed firmware 384.3 on my rt-ac68u. Made a factory reset as suggested.

Every once-in-awhile my LAN becomes inaccessible. Both via windows network and http to a local server. all cabled on ethernet. static IPs by MAC through the DHCP server settings. For the http server I am using dnsmasc.

Greetings!

New to the Asus and the Asus-Merlin experience!

As the title says, I can no longer view Traffic Monitor per device.
I have an RT-AC1900P that was recently flashed first time to Merlin version 380.65 (latest as of today).

I was keen on using the Traffic Monitor per device...however, it is not displaying!

It did work when I first flashed the device and logged in to view. But after that it never shows.
A reboot occasional gets it...

Newbie - Creating VLAN on AC88u

Hi All,

I just purchased a RTN-AC88U, and I plan on hosting a Game Server out of my house. It may be shared with those who I otherwise wouldn't want to have access to the remainder of my home network; so I want to VLAN off 1 of the LAN ports to segregate it from the rest of my home network. I understand that ASUSWRT & Merlin both support VLAN creation via a command line.

I would like some help in doing this, as Im clueless and haven't found documentation to support this.

No access to LAN with OpenVPN

Hi,

I have setup OpenVPN on my Asus Router with the latest Merlin FW.
I can connect to with my iPhone/iPad/Windows Laptop to the OpenVPN server. However, accessing resources on the local LAN does not succeed. I have gone through everything multiple times and I'm unable to find what is wrong.

Please Help Me Understand Standard QoS Statistics Pie Chart

Hey all,

I recently turned on Standard QoS on my Asus AC88u router running 384.3 FW and I noticed something odd about the pie chart found on the "QoS Statistics" tab (see screenshot). It looks like there is some mysterious upload traffic classified as "Low" and "High" on the chart even though I've classified all devices on my network as "Lowest" (see screenshot).

What gives? I would think that if I marked all devices as "Lowest" it would ONLY show lowest on the Pie chart. What is creating...

OpenVPN ressetting on AC68U

Hey all.

I tried to to upload 3 times openVPN settings and all 3 times my router resetting before I had any chance to do something??

I use Merlins 384.3 on my AC68U.

Any Idea to stop the ressetting?
