Access control lists?

I am setting up a VPN from a less secure location to one that's a bit more sensitive. I initially planned to go the other way but a double-NAT at the remote end forces this configuration. I need to limit traffic from the less-secure location with the VPN client, restricting to a single IP address and UDP port at the more secure facility. Is there a way to do this? Equipment is
RT-AC87U with 380.9 more secure site
RT-AC68U with 390.0 less secure site

Hi, I would appreciate if someone could advise me please as to what i'm doing wrong.

I've setup NordVPN openVPN client on Asus Merlin and all seems to be working when testing. The devices which i want to use the VPN tunnel (rules policy) seem to be working fine and IPLeaks.net doesnt return any of my ISP servers. I'm actually impressed with the speeds as there isn't any drop in line speed other than ping.

I'm able to access the USA Netflix catalog (i'm in the UK) via my iPhone, Laptop and...

Individual IP Traffic Monitoring

Hello Everyone

I have only just flashed my ASUS RT-AC68U with the Merlin firmware, so I am still exploring the additional features.

I note that it is supposed to be possible to monitor internet traffic on a per IP basis, but I don't see that option in my router's GUI (see screenshot). Am I missing something obvious here?

Hello,

I am new to Asuswrt-Merlin. I'm converting from an RT-N16 with dd-wrt to a new RT-AC86U. I have flashed it with 382.1_2

To replace my existing setup, I need to setup multiple SSID's, and separate my LAN ports from each other to assign them to VLAN's to go with the SSID's.

I have googled the subject, and keep coming back to SSH commands including robocfg. I get a response -sh: robocfg: not found. Doing a <Tab><Tab> (or busybox) also does not show it. Does 382.1_2 not have the...

VPN Client issues

Hello and a Happy New Year

I'm having issues with the Merlin firmware, specifically the VPN client part.
Whatever I do, i can't change the address, port, password or anything else for that matter in the connection settings.
I tried uploading new files from different providers, factory resetting, changing manually, resetting the nvram, clearing all the NVRAM VPN variables manually. Nothing worked.

vram show | grep vpn_client1
nvram unset vpn_client1_rgw
nvram unset vpn_client1_dns
etc......

I have successfully set up an OpenVPN client from an AC68U client to an AC87U server, both running 380.9. Everything works as expected - AC68U LAN devices can access devices on the AC87U's LAN. I am forced to create the VPN in this direction because the AC68U is behind a double-NAT.

HOWEVER: i need the routing relationship to be reversed. I need devices on the AC87U LAN to be able to access the AC68U's LAN. I do not want any access from the 68 site to come back to the 87....

Adaptive Qos with VPN client - Download registers as Upload

I'm sure I've seen this asked before, but my search-fu isn't working today.

When Adaptive QoS is enabled the download speed of the VPN client is limited to the upload speed (and shows on Bandwidth monitor as upload). Upload also shows as upload.

I have also ensured IPv6 is disabled as I recall this broke things. It is only with VPN Policy Routed traffic, all other traffic displays correctly.

I've tried a factory reset to no avail, is this just something I need to live with?

I was using an RT-AC66U for years when it died a quiet and peaceful death. I was able to access the GUI from the internet both on my phone and my work computer using the latest Merlin firmware. I replaced my deceased friend with an RT-AC68U and updated to the most recent Merlin 380.68_4. My enable web access from WAN is on and I am using the same DDNS host name. When using the iplookup.asus.com service, it identifies my user name and the IP address of my system.

Why is mkfifo missing?

I'm curious why the busybox in asuswrt merlin (382.1_1, at least) does not contain "mkfifo".

Code:

-sh: mkfifo: not found
# busybox mkfifo
mkfifo: applet not found
According to busybox.net, "mkfifo" was added in busybox 0.39 in 1999; asuswrt merlin allegedly contains busybox 1.25.1 from 2016.

(I am trying to make my router's custom scripts log to a file as well as to stdout and stderr. The usual one-liner to do that uses bashisms and isn't compatible with busybox's sh....

Why is mkfifo missing?

firewall-start script is not called at router startup

I'm running asuswrt merlin 382.1_2 on my ASUS RT-AC3100 router, and I'm trying to write the scripts that will configure my vlans and ports the way I want.

I'm a little unclear on which commands should go in services-start and which belong in firewall-start but I've done my best to separate them correctly, following the advice in many other threads on this forum.

The problem is that when the router boots up, it never runs the firewall-start script, so that part of the configuration is not...

Today i have
Netgear Orbi WiFi System (RBK53) AC3000
Router + 2 Satellites.
My trial period will start Friday next week, which means I have to send back before Friday next week if I do not want netgear, I've tried Asus Lyra and Linksys well not quite happy, so last I have now Netgear, but then did aimesh come after i got netgear, so should i keep netgear or go for aimesh system, ac5300 and ac88u? have big house 3 floors, can anyone help me on what i should...

Almost pulled my hairs out trying to get these scripts to work,Everything seems working as I intended, still testing for anything I may have missed.


I found this script reddit by a user name: Scare_norm
The script placed in /jffs/scripts/ as Plex_StaticRoute.sh (note: with extension .sh)

I hope somewhere here can help me. I have 2 wifi routers, router1 is the ISP wifi router and most machines connect to it for internet access (192.168.0.1), router2 is my VPN router an Asus AC56U running Merlin 380.69 (192.168.1.1). I'm using time machine and SMB on router2. I want to be able to access router2 (192.168.1.1) while connected to router1 (192.168.0.1). I can't even get the webui to show up unless I'm connected to router2. Strange thing is when I'm connected to router2 I can...

Entware transmission auto unrar torrent

I'm trying to setup a script to settings.json to auto unrar a torrent if there is a rar file inside (or .rar, .r00, .r01 etc)

I'm trying to avoid torrentexpander.sh as it creates a lot of unnecessary folders, all I want is to unrar a single file (as it usually is contained inside a tv series torrent) without touching any other files within the rar (.nfos etc).

I've installed unrar in entware using:
#opkg install unrar

So far I've managed to unrar from ssh prompt using the command:...
