AC86U - Transmission connects to peers only after restart

I've been running Transmission on AC87U for years and it worked well. After getting AC86U and installing Transmission on this router, I have this problem for months now. This is what happens:

I use Transmission Remote app to connect to router and add/download torrents. Works well. However, after some time (I don't download often, like once a week or so), Transmission still works (I can connect remotely, and daemon is alive on router), but it won't connect to any peer. I can keep it running...

Issue with Asus RT-AX88U firmware 384.13

Hi guys,
Recently I purchased an RT-AX88U version which was replaced with the RT-AC66U as I had very good experience with it and all the features worked very well.
Assuming there is not that much difference between the 66U and the 88U, the new switch was configured like the old one on the official firmware then I discovered that it is much slower than a 66U.
Next step I chose to install Merlin version 384.13, the speed was much better but then other problems appeared:

1- I have connected a...

Using attached USB drive

I'm trying to set up a SanDisk Cruzer 64GB flash memory device to use as storage for my security cameras. It's attached to the rear USB port on my new RT-AX88U, but I can't even get it to format under the FAT system (the progress bar, if it starts at all, stops at around 6-8%.) I've tried using the NTFS format and although that does progress to 100%, I cannot create any folders on it from within the router's GUI. I've tried downgrading to USB 2, but same result. I can format and access the...

============================

This is an LTS (Long Term Service) fork of Asuswrt-Merlin based on 374.43_2. This older code base has a history of being very stable, and some of the older code components may perform better in some environments. It may be a good choice for those who desire a 'set it and forget it' router solution. Additional information on the differences...

Stubby is an application that acts as a local DNS Privacy stub resolver using DNS-over-TLS. Stubby encrypts DNS queries sent from a client machine to a DNS Privacy resolver increasing end user privacy.

Since Stubby is in the early stages of development, it may not be suitable for non-technical users. To assist users to implement Stubby, I wrote a Stubby installer script to make the process easier.

I'm on Merlin 384.10_2 and an Asus RT-AC3100 and I was seeing the same issue with the previous release as well.

On my router I have Diversion installed for ad-blocking and I also run OpenVPN with protonVPN as a client so that my entire LAN is tunneled through this VPN (except for when I connect to my work VPN).

I was seeing occasional network interruptions every couple of days, with my logs showing "Apr 26 15:14:59 WAN_Connection: ISP's DHCP did not function properly." and all my network...

Greetings,

I am running the official AsusWRT firmware (45717) on AC68U. In my previous setup I was using AiMesh, which was problematic. I have just moved into a new house and only have the main router setup. It is running as an AiMesh router but with all the nodes un-paired.

However, I am still experiencing wifi issue. To begin with, the wifi is unstable. I would see that a wifi-connected device (such as a cell phone) losing connection once a while, only to be re-connected in a few...

my AC5300 came in Dual band smart connect and not in Tri band smart connect (SC)..

is this normal ? is this because AC68U is not Tri band ? else any possibility to have this in Tri band SC ?

New AC laptop slow on N66U

I have an ASUS RT-N66U with Merlin 380.70, the last version for this router. My Rogers package is 150Mbps. My old Dell laptop was getting ~80Mbps. I bought a new Dell laptop with an AC 7265. It is getting ~15Mbps.

I have read "old router, old cpu" in other threads, and I am looking at new routers, but in the meantime, is this normal or can I fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Question on Entware and /opt directory linkage

$

I've got a question/topic for discussion that is interesting to/bothering me:

Why does Entware co-opt the entire "/opt" folder, being that it is just a single software package (albeit a repo for multiple packages)?

From my time working with traditional unix systems, "/opt" has always been the directory/mount point for 3rd party software packages. While Entware certainly would fall into this category, I would expect to find it at "/opt/entware" and not have "/opt" be a link directly into...

Dual WAN Fail Over still using secondary WAN

I'm running 384.10_2 with dual WAN setup in fail-over mode. The backup WAN connection is an Ethernet connected 3G modem. Since setting up the dual wan, I have been seeing a consistent 1.6MB/day usage as reported by the 3G ISP. If I disconnect the Ethernet link from the modem to the router, this usage drops to 0MB/day, which confirms it is traffic coming form the router and not the modem.

Anyone else see this behavior? Any idea what on asuswrt-merlin would be generating this traffic?

mt-daapd -m cpu 100 percent

I am trying to figure out what is causing my router to run at 100% with mt-daapd -m process.
I am running firmware 384.13 on RT-AC68U. I have diversion, uidivstats, skynet, scribe, uiscribe, ntpmerlin, connmon installed. mt-daapd -m runs at 100% cpu after reboots and does not stop unless i kill it with HTOP.
